(More customer reviews)I've used KMR and other milk replacers (Hartz, etc.), but KMR is the only one that is readily accepted by all young animals. It seems to be richer and have a much higher fat content than the other brands, and rescued animals usually need all the fats they can get. Mixing small amounts of KMR can be frustrating at first because the fat content makes it difficult to dissolve. I've tried whisks, but they don't work. Finally, I figured it out: measure the amount of KMR needed into a measuring cup, then add small amounts of warm water and stir until you create a paste (usually, I add water equal to 1/2 the amount of powder to create a paste.) Stir the paste until it is smooth, then add small amounts of the rest of the water, stirring well after each addition(1 part KMR to 2 parts water). It isn't perfect, but it works better than dumping everything together, stirring like crazy, and still having a lumpy mess.

(More customer reviews)Ok, first the background of our little kitties. Their moms a stray, their about 4 weeks old. The mother recently tried to take them on an excursion far away from the house where we adopted them from. They went missing for 10 days so to be on the safe side when she brought them back the owners at the time seperated them and gave us a call. We adopted them same day. Now i know weening a baby from the mothers milk is a pain. I had ordered this ahead of time so we would have everything in place for the new kitties which we werent supposed to get for about 4 more weeks. Well good thing i did cause without any hesitation they started eating this stuff. Never had solid food before, still nursing. This weened them instantly. no formula mixxed in at all. Im very happy with this stuff. Its a little expensive but for how long your actually gonna need it (up to 4 months) Its not that bad of an investment considering how much the kittens actually eat.

The food that came from Amazon was lighter in color and had more dusty/small particles of food throughout. The food is currently back-ordered at Amazon. So I purchased it from the store again, and noticed the difference again.
Has anyone else noticed the product varies depending on where it is purchased?

(More customer reviews)I would recommend this product, on the grounds that you don't mind the smell of fish and sweat socks.
I buy cat food in bigger bags and store it in a little tote box for my cat. I bought Taste Of The Wild Canyon River in the 8lb bag and dumped it in the tote. Wow. I was smacked in the face by a fish odor that I probably will never forget. It's like a cross between gym shorts, wet towel, and a fish department. In that regard, I won't complain too much because it's healthy, grain-free, and there's less waste in the litter box. If you can stand the pungent smell of sweat socks and fish, I can do nothing but recommend this cat food. My cat's coat has never been more silky and soft.

Kocci Free - All-Natural Anti-Parasitic for Pets (1oz) Review

I adopted a kitten from the local humane society. I took her straight from the shelter to the vet's office to have her checked out. As it turned out, she was riddled with coccidia and worms too. The worms were easy to get rid of; the medicine the vet prescribed took that out. The coccidia? Not so much. I gave her a ten-day antibiotic treatment starting the day I got her. I had to keep her quarantined and away from her own poop, etc. It was hard on all of us, especially her! When the ten days were over, I took her back, had her checked and she was "clean".
About a month after that, she started having the symptoms of it again: diarrhea, tummy gurgles, etc. Took her in and - sure enough - she had it again (or probably never got rid of it to begin with). I did go through with another ten-day round of antibiotics, something different than what she had had the first time. I then waited three days and started her on the Kocci-free. I gave this to her four times per day for twenty days. I also put her on kitten vitamins so that her immune system could strengthen up to better fight the parasite. It has all worked! I feel so confident now that she won't have a recurrence of it again in a month, like last time.
My baby seems to much healthier now and I fully give that credit to the Kocci-free. Amazing product! I can't say enough about it!
Just a note... I gave it to her twice in the morning and twice in the evening. I put the recommended four drops into a bit of black-eyed-pea "juice" and she just lapped it right up. In fact, she started begging for it about a week after we started it! It is so easy to administer. Great product!

My maine coon had the same problem and being long hair her soft stool issue wasn't pretty. Within days of feeding her this food wet and dry her problem stopped. Her poo does smell terrible but it's been like that with every good quality food she's had. In all I highly recommend this food to anyone who has a cat with digestion, loose stool issues.

(More customer reviews)I used to feed both of my cats a different brand name cat food that was supposed to be for those kitties with sensitive tummies, and it was okay, but this Pinnacle cat food has the other brand beat hands down.
We have been feeding our cats this food for about a year now and we have been having a lot fewer instances of upset tummies compared to the incidents we were having prior to switching over to this brand of cat food.
Both of our cats love it even though only one of them has a sensitive tummy issue. Initially, it took a couple of weeks of mixing the old cat food with the new Pinnacle cat food and then slowly eliminated the old cat food until they were just eating the new Pinnacle cat food. Now my cat will stick his head in the bowl and eat a hole to the bottom before working his way around the edges of the bowl. Quite funny to watch actually! Ha Ha Ha
My other cat is a strange one indeed, he will get a mouthful of food and then walk a couple of steps away from the bowl, drop the food onto the ground and the proceed to eat it from the ground. Not quite sure what is going on with that.
Anyhow, I would highly recommend this brand of cat food for your kitty if he or she has a sensitive tummy. And don't worry about the price; it is an investment in the health of your furry four-legged children, as all of us good parents know. And if you haven't already purchased one of these for your kitty Drinkwell Platinum Pet Fountain, be sure and do so, it is the absolute best cat water fountain on the market at this time.

Vetri-Lysine Plus Soft Chews 4.23oz Review

(More customer reviews)I have used this product for two months now. It was recommended by my cat's veterinarian. My cat has feline herpes. This ailment gives him occasional eye infections. Part of his treatment is supplementation with the L-Lysine. It works, but is part of a gradual healing process. This is the easiest form of L-Lysine to give to my cat. He really likes it. With any L-Lysine supplement, keep in mind that one side effect is increased appetite.
I do agree that calling these "soft chews" is a joke. They are tough jerky-like pellets. My cat is a Maine Coon and twice the size of an average cat. He has a big jaw and big teeth. When I give him these chews it takes him awhile to chew and swallow these.
Most forms of L-Lysine are dependent on your cat eating moist canned food. My cat currently eats dry. Previously, I have used two other forms of L-Lysine. One was a gel called Viralys, this has to be added to wet/canned cat food. It is expensive, is difficult to measure and is used up quite quickly. The other L-Lysine form I tried was (human grade) capsules from Twin Lab supplements. You have to open up the capsule and sprinkle it on the moist cat food. This was a relatively easy and inexpensive treatment. However it is still dependent on moist food. Right now I prefer the L-Lysine chews. I give my cat 2 chews twice a day and it lasts a month. When the symptoms subside I will reduce my cat's treatment to once a day for health maintenance.

"The foulest stench is in the air

But, this review is about my kitty's reaction, not mine. The directions on the bag suggest mixing the new food with familiar food for a while, so that your pet's digestive system can get used to the new stuff. A slave to Pete, my cat, I willingly obliged. He couldn't be happier! He's on his 3rd bag of the Canyon River; he's been eating it straight for a while.
Being a (mostly) Russian Blue cat, Pete has always been super soft. Imagine my surprise when his coat became even silkier! While the food stinks, my kitty's breath does not. Maybe because I weaned him off of his old brand? Who knows. Now, here's the very best part: my cat poops less frequently! Hooray! Because of the wildly mixed reviews on this product in the larger size, I would recommend buying this smaller bag before committing to the larger one.

(More customer reviews)My 1 year old Siberian cat, Mimic, loves this stuff. He would prefer to eat only the dry Taste of the Wild for ever and ever. But I do worry about his urinary health, so I supplement with some wet food every day. He used to be on Merrick wet, but when my local store started carrying the Taste of the Wild wet, I gave it a try, and now it's the only wet food he'll eat.
I don't know what kind of addictive substance they put in the food (my guess is it's the sweet potato, which is kind of an unusual cat food ingredient), but he loves it. I also know that his breeder uses it now, as do a few of my friends. And all of the cats seem to love the stuff.
If you can find the canned, try it. It smells similar, so I'd bet that any cat who likes the dry would like the wet. It is a kind of chunky food in gravy, where the chunks are like tiny pieces of meatloaf.
Ultimately, I have not found a better balance of price, quality of ingredients, and palatability for Mimic.

(More customer reviews)I got my kittens from two different breeders both of whom were feeding RC Babycat and various other RC formulas for their sires and queens. I transitioned my kittens from Babycat to Kitten 36 very easily. Currently, they are close to one year old and I've gone ahead and begun the two way equal mix of RC Kitten 36 and RC Adult 27 for transitioning. So far, my experience with the 3 RC formulas have been excellent. I have an issue with the Adult formula kibble size but that's another review for another time.
My kittens love the taste of Kitten 36. We free feed dry by choice and my kittens love to munch on this kibble! Price is outrageous, but I pay it. One of the large box pet stores (5 letters in the name) has a very good customer program. After I signed up and told the system what kind of cat food I buy, I began getting coupons for RC cat food. Up to $3 off a bag, buy 4 cans get 1 free, etc. I'm taking one star off for price.
From my vet I learned RC caters to breeders with 'breed specific' formulas and just about every other targeted need from nuts to bolts. I don't know if breeders are getting kick backs or not. I'm embarrased to ask those breeders I know but really, I have no complaints. I believe RC spends alot of money on R&D and are truly interested in the health of our cats. Having said this, from my readings and poking around in the cat food world, there are other dry foods I might be interested in introducing. I plan on doing that using the new kibble as a treat rahter than a meal.

(More customer reviews)When I took in my latest stray kitten, I thought I had sufficiently separated her from my other cats before she was dewormed. Well to my shock and horror I discovered a month later that my existing cats now had worms! I could not get an appointment with my vet, so I looked on Amazon and found the Tradewinds Tape Worm Tablets. When the pills arrived in the mail, I was a little dissappointed - they were way too big to get my cats to swallow. They just kept spitting them out. So I crushed them up and added it to some canned wet food. My cats were not fooled. These pills must taste awful to cats because it took me over an hour to hand feed them this stuff. Even so, I must say it was worth it. Within 3 days I no longer had the disgusting experience of seeing those nasty tapeworm segments. It really works. The only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is because it was so hard to get my cats to take. A liquid form would be much better.

Since my husband and I work very long days, and the kittens need to eat every few hours, I needed a way to take them to my office during the day, and for them to be confined and safe at the same time.
