(More customer reviews)When we got our German Shepherd his parents were being fed this food and he was getting the puppy version of it. After doing a little research I've found that this is a good quality dog food. And it's specifically engineered for German Shepherds which have notoriously sensitive stomachs. I've tried other foods and with this one my dogs coat looks a lot healthier and he has more energy. It also lasts longer than a #40 bag of the cheap dog food since he doesn't have to eat as much to get full. I used to get this food at Petsmart but I have to drive 40 min either east or west from where I live to get to a Petsmart so I found it to be incredibly convenient to be able to order on Amazon. I still buy it at Petsmart but I don't have to make special trip just for dog food anymore. And with Amazon Prime I can get it shipped for free and it only cost about $3 more than at Petsmart but it cost more than that in gas to drive there. I've bought this here several times and will continue to buy it here since it's so convenient.

(More customer reviews)First the good news: My cats (all 7 of them) absolutely love this food. 2 of our most finicky will eat almost nothing else, but they gobble this down. Clearly this is a good-tasting food.
Now the bad news: Seems very expensive for what you get. A look at the ingredient list reveals by-products and several grain fillers such as wheat gluten that you don't usually find in a so-called "premium" food. Not sure why exactly it is so expensive. They also do not even make this available in a 5.5 or 6 oz can, only the 3 oz size - so for multiple cat households the cost of these little cans can really add up in a hurry.
So bottom line, it is definitely a good-tasting food and if your cats are picky eaters it is worth a try. However, the high cost and lack of a larger can option makes this a tough sell. I am trying to find a better/more economical food that all of my cats will like, so I can transition them off this.

(More customer reviews)GSDs can be picky about what they eat and often have tender tummies--this food is the solution IMHO.
In May we adopted a rescued thin, sickly 2-1/2 year-old male GSD, AKC registered. We've been without a dog for years, and I wasn't sure what kibble to feed a younger dog. The pet store had Eukanuba and, out of the corner of my eye, I saw "for German Shepherds" and decided to try it even if it is a bit expensive.
It was the best pet food decision I've ever made.
He's bulked out now to a normal weight, has a coat that's incredible, and his breath is clean and sweet. It's great on his digestion--he doesn't eat grass anymore and has healthy poops everyday. Sure it might be pricey, but isn't your loyal companion and protector worth it?

(More customer reviews)Ok, first the background of our little kitties. Their moms a stray, their about 4 weeks old. The mother recently tried to take them on an excursion far away from the house where we adopted them from. They went missing for 10 days so to be on the safe side when she brought them back the owners at the time seperated them and gave us a call. We adopted them same day. Now i know weening a baby from the mothers milk is a pain. I had ordered this ahead of time so we would have everything in place for the new kitties which we werent supposed to get for about 4 more weeks. Well good thing i did cause without any hesitation they started eating this stuff. Never had solid food before, still nursing. This weened them instantly. no formula mixxed in at all. Im very happy with this stuff. Its a little expensive but for how long your actually gonna need it (up to 4 months) Its not that bad of an investment considering how much the kittens actually eat.

(More customer reviews)I have a pekingese and a silken terrier (under 20 lb dogs). The pekingese food helps suppress appetite and loose weight, while the silky food is designed to increase appetite and gain weight. I've had my two (polar-opposite) dogs on this formula of dog food for two years and am delighted to say they are both health and have no digestive problems or health problems. (They both were habitually sick on other dog food brands, supposedly "organic", "main-stream" healthy stuff...)
There's just no way to keep your dogs away from each others food, but this is a great compromise.
NOW the only problem is that most stores only carry these tiny 3 lb bags. I drove to 4 Pets-Marts in one day looking for the 15lb bag and the 30lb bag is nowhere to be seen. I really wish Amazon, Pet's Mart or Royal Canin direct, would sell me a 30 lb bag, because I just don't have time to tour pet stores trying to find a bag that will last.
If you only have one dog under 10 lbs, the 3 lb bag is fine. BUT I have 2, over 10lbs, and they are ACTIVE, so they EAT and play and EAT and play and sleep...that's their lovely lives. I need a bag of food that can keep up with our busy lives.

I had given her mostly Wellness chicken flavor but there were times where she just didn't want to eat. I gave royal canin a try and the first time she lapped it all up right away. She has continued to eat all her morsels every meal since. When I mentioned the type of food I was giving her to our vet the vet was very pleased and said it's a healthy food. I couldn't be more pleased with this food.

After unsucessfully trying vets recommended foods and resorting to even preparing baked fresh chicken breasts a clerk at Petco recommended this food. She claims this breed is the hardest to please and her sisters's Shih Tsu will only eat McDonald's hamburgers! She pointed out this dry dog food on her store shelf and my "Chewie" has been happy ever since. I live on the Oregon coast a minimum of 2 hours drive each way to my closest Petco, so Amazon.com is the way to go.

Royal Canin Bulldog 24 Dry Dog Food 30lb Review

(More customer reviews)Recently I decided to switch my French Bulldog to Royal Canin Bulldog 24 after he developed food allergies. Royal Canin came highly recommended from our vet and being "specially formulated for a Bulldog's needs" I thought this food would be a good fit. The label on the bag tauts features like "highly digestible proteins and starches" that reduce a Bulldog's rather active digestive system. In my experience it doesn't.
I was skeptical too of the ingredients list which lists the first ingredients as: Chicken meal, rice, brown rice, oatmeal, soy protein isolate, rice flour, chicken fat, and natural chicken flavor. For an "ultra-premium" brand this is not an impressive list of ingredients. Similarly priced dog foods like Canidae, Solid Gold, Wellness, Innova, and Orijen feature ingredients like chicken off the bone and other high quality sources of protein as the main ingredients.
After about 3 weeks of struggling with my pup's very loose stool, gas and all around lethargy I decided enough was enough and stopped feeding my dog Royal Canin. In the meantime I decided to educate myself on dog food, the ingredients and the manufacturing processes. I think that although many of the premium dog food brands on the market now are certainly better than run-of-the-mill grocery brand dog foods, there is still a lot to be desired.
I think that the bottom line when it comes to Royal Canin (and many other dog food brands) is that many of the large corporations who produce these dog foods do not have you or your dogs best interests at heart. Royal Canin is now fully owned by the Mars/Masterfood Group - a massive conglomerate that makes everything from candy bars to dog food.
In short I think that whatever was once Royal Canin - is now something different altogether. That something being a company more mindful of it's bottom line and marketing practices than the ingredients in their product.
I really recommend anyone interested in Royal Canin to do a bit more research and compare to the other brands I mentioned above. In most cases you can get a better food for the same price.
Most definitely not recommended.

Royal Canin for Persians has been perfect for our two cats. Its easy for them to pick up. They enjoy the taste, but don't over eat. They've had no digestive problems, urinary infections which can be a problem with an all dry food diet. Their skin and coats are healthy and fur balls are minimal. They have it packaged with a resealable strip which helps keep it fresh. I'm very happy. And its a Great Price!

Dry food when they were younger switched to canned when they were older to ensure they get enough liquid in their diets.
