FortiFlora FELINE - Box of 30 (1 gram packets) Review

FortiFlora FELINE - Box of 30 (1 gram packets)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My 20 1/2 year old cat began to have the smell of death. It was not pleasant. My husband said her stomach was rotting. Now I understand why some old people smell bad. OxyFresh helped in the last couple of years with her bad breath, but I had no idea it went deeper than that. The bad bacteria had to be counteracted with good bacteria inside her. My husband bought FortiFlora and within a short time, the bad smell was gone and her health improved tremendously. She is back on track, can jump again, and her coat has returned to being shiny and fluffy. Thanks Purina, you saved Tammy's life and my other two cats don't sputter at her anymore. We're buying the canine version for our 11 year old standard poodle. We both believe pro-biotics are a must from time to time and definitely in old age.

Royal Canin Canned Cat Food, Adult Instinctive (Pack of 24 3-Ounce Cans) Review

Royal Canin Canned Cat Food, Adult Instinctive (Pack of 24 3-Ounce Cans)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First the good news: My cats (all 7 of them) absolutely love this food. 2 of our most finicky will eat almost nothing else, but they gobble this down. Clearly this is a good-tasting food.
Now the bad news: Seems very expensive for what you get. A look at the ingredient list reveals by-products and several grain fillers such as wheat gluten that you don't usually find in a so-called "premium" food. Not sure why exactly it is so expensive. They also do not even make this available in a 5.5 or 6 oz can, only the 3 oz size - so for multiple cat households the cost of these little cans can really add up in a hurry.
So bottom line, it is definitely a good-tasting food and if your cats are picky eaters it is worth a try. However, the high cost and lack of a larger can option makes this a tough sell. I am trying to find a better/more economical food that all of my cats will like, so I can transition them off this.

Feline Greenies 3 oz. Package Salmon Review

Feline Greenies 3 oz. Package Salmon
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I really wish Amazon would list ingredients for the food products they sell, whether it's for human or animal consumption. For some reason I assumed Greenies were natural and it's completely my fault for not looking for the ingredients on another site before buying, but yeah... these are corn-based and thus not very different from the junk you can get in the supermarket. Oh, except these cost more. So why should I buy them?? Sure my cat likes them but she seems to like 95% of the treats I give her, plus simply liking them doesn't make them good/healthy for her - much like inhaling a box of Cheez-Its is deliciously naughty for me.
Here's the list of ingredients in the salmon Greenies for anyone who cares:
Chicken Meal, Ground Brewers Rice, Ground Wheat, Corn Gluten Meal, Poultry Fat (Preserved With Mixed Tocopherols), Sprayed Dried Hydrolyzed Chicken Protein Concentrate, Oat Fiber, Salmon Meal, Natural Chicken Flavor, Vegetable Oil (Preserved With Mixed Tocopherols), Natural Poultry and Fish Flavor, Sodium Gluconate, Brewer's Dried Yeast, Calcium Carbonate, Potassium Chloride, Glucono-delta-lactone, Citric Acid, Choline Chloride, Taurine, Vitamins: [Vitamin A Supplement, D-Activated Animal Sterol (Source of Vitamin D3 Supplement), dl-Alpha Tocopherol Acetate (Source of Vitamin E), Niacin Supplement, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Riboflavin Supplement, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (Source of Vitamin K Activity), Folic Acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement], Minerals: [Zinc Proteinate; Copper Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, Iron Sulfate, Sodium Selenite, Cobalt Carbonate, Ethylenediamine Dihydriodide], Mixed Tocopherols, Rosemary Extract, DL Methionine, Chlorophyll.

Viralys (L-Lysine) Oral Gel For Cats, 5 oz Review

Viralys (L-Lysine) Oral Gel For Cats, 5 oz
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When my cat started having eye discharge, the vet said it was an outbreak of the herpes virus. She prescribed VET Viralys (along with erythromycin opthalmic ointment). I gave Viralys to my cat three times a day for a week. She loved the taste and happily licked it off my finger. After a week, the problem cleared up and has not returned. Highly recommended.

Vetri-Lysine Plus Soft Chews 4.23oz Review

Vetri-Lysine Plus Soft Chews 4.23oz
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have used this product for two months now. It was recommended by my cat's veterinarian. My cat has feline herpes. This ailment gives him occasional eye infections. Part of his treatment is supplementation with the L-Lysine. It works, but is part of a gradual healing process. This is the easiest form of L-Lysine to give to my cat. He really likes it. With any L-Lysine supplement, keep in mind that one side effect is increased appetite.
I do agree that calling these "soft chews" is a joke. They are tough jerky-like pellets. My cat is a Maine Coon and twice the size of an average cat. He has a big jaw and big teeth. When I give him these chews it takes him awhile to chew and swallow these.
Most forms of L-Lysine are dependent on your cat eating moist canned food. My cat currently eats dry. Previously, I have used two other forms of L-Lysine. One was a gel called Viralys, this has to be added to wet/canned cat food. It is expensive, is difficult to measure and is used up quite quickly. The other L-Lysine form I tried was (human grade) capsules from Twin Lab supplements. You have to open up the capsule and sprinkle it on the moist cat food. This was a relatively easy and inexpensive treatment. However it is still dependent on moist food. Right now I prefer the L-Lysine chews. I give my cat 2 chews twice a day and it lasts a month. When the symptoms subside I will reduce my cat's treatment to once a day for health maintenance.

Unscented Sardine-Anchovy Oil for Dogs or Cats - 8.75 oz Review

Unscented Sardine-Anchovy Oil for Dogs or Cats - 8.75 oz
Average Reviews:

I use this for my 3 dogs that eat a raw prey-model diet. It's great for making up the extra Omega-3s since they don't get grass-fed meat. It's not quite odorless, there's still a slight smell, but not nearly as strong as other liquid fish oils I've tried. Very high quality oil, pressed at low temperatures and from wild caught fish, and heavy metal toxins are removed. I alternate between the Iceland Pure Sardine/Anchovy Oil and Iceland Pure Salmon Oil.

California Natural Skin and Coat Liquid Supplement for Dogs and Cats (16-oz bottle) Review

California Natural Skin and Coat Liquid Supplement for Dogs and Cats (16-oz bottle)

This oil was recommended to me at my local natural pet food store. My cat has had fur loss due to we assume itchy skin. We've been using this for about a month now and I'm really starting to see results. Not only is my kitty's fur extra silky and shiny, it's also growing back! No more itchy skin for my girl! At first, she was hesitant to eat it, but now it's a daily supplement with her wet food and she doesn't seem to mind the taste.

Pet Pectillin Diarrhea Medication for Pets Review

Pet Pectillin Diarrhea Medication for Pets
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My cat has had problems for years with digestive problems and boughts of chronic vomitting and diarrhea. I was told to try pepto-bismal, but that never seemed to help. I tried Pet Pectillin and with just one dose it started to work. Now I give my cat one or 2 doses a week as maintence and he has not had one of his "bad spells" since I started using this product. I would highly recomend this product. The ingredients in it are safer for animals than pepto-bismal and actually works.

Greenies Pill Pockets for Cats, Salmon, 1.6 ounce Review

Greenies Pill Pockets for Cats, Salmon, 1.6 ounce
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have two cats, one is mine and the other is my girlfriends. My cat, although he isn't thrilled with getting the occasional "tummy pill," does do pretty well with them and doesn't usually throw too bad of a fit. My girlfriend's cat on the other hand, is quite the opposite. That little bugger will throw one of the biggest fits you ever seen when you attempt to give him a pill. You would think that we are trying to give him a bath he throws such a fit, which is another story all together!
Anyhow, we bought some of these "pill hiding treats" in an attempt to get him to take his medicine without the daily fight that is usually attached to the act of pill taking. The very first time we tried them we were both a bit apprehensive wondering if we had just wasted some money on treats instead of the normal band-aids which come in quite handy at pill time. Needless to say, these "pill pockets" worked!
We were literally amazed the first time that we gave him one with a pill in it and he actually gulped it down without even tasting it. Oh, what joy swept through our household. Little did we know that it was only going to last about 2 weeks. Just enough time for use to become complacent as far as the daily pill act was concerned.
Sure enough, we were once again outsmarted by the cat. Approximately two weeks into the "pill hiding treat" debacle, we started finding his pill on the floor but no sign of the pill pocket. We soon discovered that the little bugger was chewing the pill pocket off from around the pill and eating it without eating the pill.
Now we give him several "pill hiding treats" throughout the day, and only one of them has the pill in it, but he never knows which one it is. Although we never put it in the very first one, or the very last one. This has been working now for about a month, but I figure were running out of time on this one and had better start thinking up a new plan of attack before we are once again outsmarted by the cat.

Science Diet Oral Care Adult Cat Food, 3.5 Lb Review

Science Diet Oral Care Adult Cat Food, 3.5 Lb
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My cat loves this cat food so much that we feed it to her as treats. She has a tendency to get underweight so we feed it to her pretty much on demand (which is frequently). I'd recomend it for fussy cats with tooth tartar problems (the chucks are larger than normal cat food and presumably help to clean their teeth when they crunch it). I usually buy the larger size for economy's sake, but this would be a better size to try out on your cat.

Hill's Science Diet Nature's Best Adult Chicken & Brown Rice Dinner Dry Cat Food - 12-Pound Bag Review

Hill's Science Diet Nature's Best Adult Chicken and Brown Rice Dinner Dry Cat Food - 12-Pound Bag
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I chose this for my cat after the vet advised that all of his foods should not contain fish. There are few dry foods available which are fish free. There are even fewer which were palatable to the cat. This food satisfies me with quality ingredients and the cat loves it. I like the small kibble size, too, the older kitty finds it easy to eat. The new kitty addition to our home has no dietary restrictions but is eating and loving it anyway. Thank you to Nature's Best for creating a tasty and healthy food. I hope your cat likes it, too.
