Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul Dry Dog Food for Adult Dog, Large Breed Chicken Flavor, 18 Pound Bag Review

Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul Dry Dog Food for Adult Dog, Large Breed Chicken Flavor, 18 Pound Bag
Average Reviews:

We tried 4 different brands of dog food trying to find something that our dogs would eat plain. We
have a Golden Retriever and German Shepherd and they both loved this product. They had been eating
Iams and Eukenuba, but after reading about what's in dog food, we found this product to be superior.
This is fed to our boys everyday and they eat every little piece with or without wet food mixed in.
Would highly recommend.

Gamma Vittles Vault Airtight SoftStore Pet Food Storage Container Review

Gamma Vittles Vault Airtight SoftStore Pet Food Storage Container
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After my dog got out his kennel and ate through the side....
I didn't look for ANY OTHER type of storage system. It was another soft vittles vault or nothing. I've tried about everything until I stumbled on one of these about 5 years ago. I'll never use anything else.
We live in the woods and mice in the garage are a problem. They don't get in here. The food stays fresh, it collapses as you use it up and the lid just spins on and off with the flip of the wrist.
Best of all, grab the strap throw it in the back of the truck and we are off on a hunting trip.
This is one of the few products you'll run across that once you use it, you won't want anything else.
I know its just a dog food container, but that's exactly my point...food storage and feeding the dog shouldn't be a pain...and its not with one of these.

Our canine family is definitely on the RGDC kick at mealtime!! We have three "kids," Sturgis-the-Wonder-Peke, Bobette (aka Alien-Love-Child), and Ellie Mae Dobby Diana (our little rescue mix), who tolerated their dry food, but we could tell it wasn't something they got uber-excited about. Yes, they'd eat it, but no one seemed to be doing the happy dance prior to meal-time. Well, except for EMDD, who spent her first year being horribly neglected. She does the happy dance for just about anything now that her life has turned around. Anyway, the first time I put just a small spoonful of RGDC's over their dry food, our trio made it perfectly clear that this was absolutely the BEST food they've ever had! Noses buried in their bowls, tails wagging while they ate, and not a drop or morsel left behind!! Now, I am notified early every morning by Sturgis that it's time to get up and make breakfast. And in the afternoon, he does the same thing. EMDD makes us dizzy with her spinning happy dance. And Bobette simply hops around (which, for her very low-key self is almost as strenuous as kick-boxing). Meals vanish in record time! I've realized that if we ever stop adding RGDC to mealtime, I will have a canine hunger strike staged in my kitchen. There simply is no going back!! Bravo to RGDC for bringing "delicious" back to dog bowls!!

Hyper Dog 20 Pound Collapsible Hyper Bin Review

Hyper Dog 20 Pound Collapsible Hyper Bin
Average Reviews:

This is on the small side for large breed dogs. A 16 lb. bag is about the max. I can't lift the bigger bags anyway, so that is fine w/me.
This is great for travel. We accidentally left it outside our camper van one night while camping along the Washington coast. I woke up in the morning and couldn't find the dog food. On a walk around the campground later that day, I found the bin in the woods. It had been dragged off by, probably by a family of racoons. They scratched and clawed, but couldn't get at the food.

Northern Industrial #12 Electric Meat Grinder Review

Northern Industrial #12 Electric Meat Grinder
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My husband and I have been using electric grinders to make our cats' food since 1998 (used hand grinders prior to that). We have both the Tasin and this NT grinder.
I received the Tasin as a gift but needed another one b/c we were in the process of a cross-country move and we each needed a grinder as he had 2 of our cats, and I had the other 2 w/ me. I am so glad I checked amazon first before shelling out 2x as much for another Tasin. Reason being - they are practically if not actually, one and the same.
The wattage is the only thing that on paper is slightly higher on the Tasin, but it's the wattage *during* grinding that is the important factor. And the grinding speed seems the same to me. We use the reverse button a lot on both grinders; it's a handy feature our old Villaware grinder did not have.
If I had to do it over, which one would I buy? - NT b/c a) It's more readily available i.e from amazon than from some unknown person on the internet, and b) I'd rather pay less, so the winner again is NT from Amazon. FWIW, I paid $129 for my NT purchased from amazon (what can I say, I was in a rush and couldn't wait for a price decrease), but at the time Tasin cost way more than I see it selling for now ($150-200) so it was still a better deal.
At the price the NT's selling for nowadays ($90-100) on amazon, it's a no-brainer. My husband and I grind around 25lbs of meat at a time. It takes us about 1.5 hrs from set-up time till loading up the dishwasher. This grinder actually seems to do better w/ bones than just meat. I'd suggest alternating supplements and meat, as well as alternate veggies (if you use any) and meat when feeding through the grinder chute. Thaw the veggies a little first as I have found it makes it easier to grind, but meat is easier to grind when it's semi-frozen.
We typically grind whole chicken fryers and whole rabbits for our cats. Only recently did we try turkey. I was skeptical about the turkey but hubby cut the longer heavier bones (e.g. leg) length-wise and grinding was a breeze. We were able to grind almost an entire 14lb turkey. Very cool.
When in doubt, mash bones up first, and you'll have no problems. So far, I'm happy w/ both the Tasin and NT grinders. I've had both for about 3 yrs now.
The only complaint I have w/ both grinders is that after the very first wash, the metal turned into a dark ugly color. Also the small parts such as the grinding plate tend to rust more easily than my old Villaware, so that's the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Seems to me quality issues pop up for most appliances these days:(
Oh another thing - don't be fooled by the bigger-seeming intake chutes on this grinder (and the Tasin) than say the older Villaware b/c you'll still need to chop up the meat into smallish pieces to fit 'em into the chute. There's no getting around that unless you buy a huge $2,000 restaurant-style grinder that weighs a ton.
Hope this review helps:)

Dogswell Happy Hips for Dogs, Chicken & Sweet Potato Stew Recipe, 13-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12) Review

Dogswell Happy Hips for Dogs, Chicken and Sweet Potato Stew Recipe, 13-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This stuff is so good! My dogs go crazy for it. It smells like people food, and I believe it is made with human-grade food. I use 1/2 can per dog, mixed with premium, grain-free dry food. Awesome! Just look at the ingredients listed below!
Dogswell Happy Hips Stew Canned Dog Food really is, "Everything you want, nothing you don't."
Happy Hips Stew Canned Dog Food is all natural and grain-free. It contains Glucosamine and Chondroitin to help maintain healthy hips and joints. Made with cage-free and antibiotic-free meat. Contains no soy, corn, rice, gluten, wheat, BHA/BHT, ethoxyquin, rendered poultry, added hormones, artifical colors, flavors or preservatives. Dogswell makes it easy to feel confident that you are feeding your pet natural healthy food.
Ingredients:
Water sufficient for processing, lamb, lamb liver, beef, beef liver, salmon, dried egg product, peas, potato starch, sweet potatoes, carrots, red peppers, guar gum, natural flavor, sodium phosphate, shrimp meal (source of Glucosamine), canola oil, spinach, garlic powder, flaxseed oil, squash, cranberries, blueberries, zucchini, potassium chloride, tricalcium phosphate, Chondroitin sulfate, taurine, iron amino acid chelate, vitamin E supplement, zinc amino acid chelate, choline chloride, cobalt amino acid chelate, copper amino acid chelate, manganese amino acid chelate, riboflavin supplement, sodium selenite, thiamine mononitrate, vitamin A supplement, vitamin B-12 supplement, potassium iodide, biotin, vitamin D-3 supplement, Glucosamine hydrochloride.
UPDATE: I vary the amount I use in their meals, and I also use other Dogswell Happy Hips and Vitality canned food (the lamb and the duck). Instead of 1/2 can per meal I will often add more dry food and use just 1/4 can per meal per dog mixed with dry (they love Wellness Core Reduced Fat dry food, which is highly palatable on its own as well) instead of a half can per dog, depending on how much of the dry food I'm giving them. With this stuff mixed in with the dry food and the wild salmon oil, they go crazy for it every time. They even love it cold. One of my dogs is supposed to drink a lot of water, so I started to add a little bit of hot water with the dry and wet mix sometimes, and they seem to really enjoy it like that as well.

Sojos Grain-Free Dog Food Mix Review

Sojos Grain-Free Dog Food Mix
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
5 stars, 10 if it were possible.
2 mini-doxies who ate homemade from birth to 2, then went onto 'natural' kibble (Holistic Blendz, Hund n Flocken) and developed urine crystals, then went to a vet kibble that got rid of the crystals but developed another crystal. I needed a solution that wouldn't take all day to prepare, and without grain (dachshunds are better off with potatoes as their starch, no rice or corn). First impressions - smells good helped by garlic and oh look! I can actually recognize the bits of potato, broccoli and carrots! - add water, so far pretty easy. Add beef? I can't bring myself to do the raw thing, but I get organic ground beef from Costco, poach it, and when it's cooled down I add it to the Europa. Store 3-4 days worth in the frig, and it's done. Doggies used to sniff at the kibble and swallow enough of it to sustain life. Now they can't wait to eat. They're down to healthy weights, which is key for doxie backs, and the vet proclaims the smooth is the "best looking dachshund" he has ever seen. They're running and playing like puppies at the ripe old age of 7. I give them Missing Link Plus supplements, Cosequin DS to keep joints in good shape. I feel like I'm doing a good thing for them, and I want them around me for many more years to come. I can't thank Sojourner Farms enough for understanding the need for grain-free food, let alone the absolute purity of preparation and ingredients. Someone there actually thought about the dog first. I'm sure it takes longer to prep and dehydrate the vegetables than to pulverize and kibble-ize something far less healthy, but Sojos is doing it anyway and I for one am grateful for the product. Costly? I can't even calculate the value when I see the difference it has made in my dogs after just 2 months. They ship it free from the Sojos web site, and so does Amazon. Friends, just do it. You can make it in the time it takes you to cook supper. You'd do it for your kids. And your dogs don't talk back!!

V-dog Review

V-dog
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There is really only one other truly vegan dog food option on the market. It's by Natural Balance. The only reason we sometimes go for that brand and not V-Dog is because it's sold locally and has a canned food option. Pricing is mostly identical, so when we can remember to order in advance, we get V-Dog. Regardless of what dog food we give our old pup, he'd much rather have what we're having, but between dry kibble by V-Dog and by Natural Balance, our dog will leave the latter brand in his bowl for days until we start to worry that he's going to starve or wonder if he's simply hitting the neighbors up for leftovers when we're not looking. V-Dog has everything our dog needs and nothing that he doesn't. Do some research into commercial dog food and whether or not you're vegan, you'll want to stop supporting that enterprise. If you want canned wet, buy Natural Balance Vegetarian. If you want dry kibble, hands down, V-Dog is the way to go.

Vittles Vault II 30-Pound Clear Base Cranite Top Review

Vittles Vault II 30-Pound Clear Base Cranite Top
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When I received the product and snapped the lid on for the first time it didn't seem to fit snugly. I tried to get it to lock on better by applying firm pressure around the edges, but the moment I let off, the lid would pop back up a bit. The catch point seemed to be where the lid went over the handles.
I had hoped that despite this, that the gasket would still be sufficient to seal it, but two weeks later my dog food is full of tiny ants. They are able to free walk under the lid, totally defeating the point of the airtight spinning cap. Judging by the magnitude of infestation, it seems that the ants find it easier to get into the container than the rolled up bag containing the extra dog food I couldn't fit into this.
Bummer...

Received 3 cases, 1 each of the beef, pork, chicken, a week ago. All of my dogs love this mixed with their Wellness dry foods. My standard poodle did not eat the zucchini but she tends to be picky about textures. Very fresh almost looks like a human entree! All of my dogs love sweet potato, so that went over very well.

Solid Gold Barking at the Moon Dry Dog Food 33lb Review

Solid Gold Barking at the Moon Dry Dog Food 33lb
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After the cat food scare we began to look at what we were feeding ALL of our pets, and the ingredients listed were scary. For a long time we made their food from meat/eggs/poultry, vegetables, brown rice and some pasta. When I finally found Barking at the Moon Solid Gold pet food, I substituted it for the amount of whatever protein source I was using, still mixing it with brown rice and vegetables--whatever was on hand that would not hurt them. Our two GSDs have lost weight, and our nine year old, 110 pound male dog is behaving like a dog half his age. We also switched to Solid Gold dry cat food, and over the first three weeks our spayed female is less bloated and has lost two pounds, her coat is gleaming, and she is now as sleek as she ever was. It's a remarkable product that makes far more difference than I would have expected any diet change to make!

I adopted a retired greyhound racer a few years ago.
No matter which dog food I tried her upset stomach came back.
In desparation I went the organic holistic route. A few month ago I started her on Paw Naturaw which I found over the internet.
The food arrived, every time I ordered, well packed in ice. My beautiful hound with her delicate stomach is thriving on her new diet. We haven't had an upset stomach since.
Thanks PAW.

Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul Dry Food, Chicken Formula, 18 Pound Bag
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I spent hours on the internet and in the pet store researching dog food brands and labels. I was shocked to see just what the "grocery store brands" put in their food. I found corn as the first ingredient, chicken meal and chicken by products as the first on the list. I found this food and was impressed by the types of whole meats that are in it. I compared label after label of the $ dog food to this. It is pretty much the same. I compared it to Innova amd Merrick etc. I am so impressed with the results. My Puppies stool is nice and formed and there's alot less of it too. It seems that his body is using much more out of this food intead of passing it. Also, he eats this dry wothout a problem. I used to have to add a wet food to his "grocery store" food.

Nature's Variety is one of the best pet foods out there; one look at the ingredients and you'll agree. I'd love to feed my poodle/pap mix raw food because of her skin allergies, but she doesn't really like it. She really likes these little freeze dried medallions though. It looks like freeze-dried raw is going to be the way of the future, but until it's more mainstream I can only afford to give it as a treat.
