This cat food is the only food our 21 year old cat has eaten for the past 6+ years. The food is in small kibbles and doesn't have a strong odor. She is healthy and I attribute the food to her longevity.

I have a female Persian with very few teeth so she has to eat these pate's, like them or not. Anyway, salmon sludge is definitely a good way to describe this food but then again, the can is packed full of meat and well, just add a bit of water to it and pop it into the microwave for about 8 seconds and voila! Instant great cat food! Mine gobbles this one up quite readily, even provides a burp for us afterwards and then sleeps all night. What more can you ask for in a cat food! She can even sniff this one out through the can. Funny stuff! Highly recommend!

Nature's Variety Instinct Rabbit Formula Canned Cat Food Review

Nature's Variety Instinct Rabbit Formula Canned Cat Food
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I understand the qualms about rabbits--they seem more cuddly than chickens or cows, so why feed them to our pets? Aside from nature being nature--rabbits are prey for many animals--we have reasons for giving our cat rabbit. He, like many pets, has terrible food allergies and will scratch raw, bleeding bald spots on his face and neck if we feed him the wrong food. Rabbit is one of very few meats that he can eat without having this problem, and that is why it is found in cat food. It is more hypo-allergenic for kitties with these problems, along with a grain-free diet. We have found Instinct to be the only thing that works for our poor suffering kitty to keep him healthy.

Breeder's Choice Avoderm Cat & Kitten Beef Formula Review

Breeder's Choice Avoderm Cat and Kitten Beef Formula
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I adopted two very undernurished kittens from the Humane Society, whose on-staff vet said that AvoDerm dry and canned food is the best on the market for cats. When I took the kittens for their vet checkup 6 months later, my own vet also agreed that this is the best food available and was so pleased with the health of the kittens. My older cats have also seen a huge improvement in their coats -- much more silky and shiny, shedding is reduced and their weight is easily maintained on this food. I recommend trying this food if you have finicky cats or they have health problems.
My cats absolutely LOVE all the Avoderm Select Cuts (chunky-style) flavors AND all the flavors of this pate-style food. The seafood flavors seem to be the most popular among the cats, but many vets recommend avoiding too much seafood for male cats due to the urine crystals it can cause. I started feeding the beef and chicken exclusively and they eat every last drop.
Bottom line: It costs more than your average food, but it's worth every penny (buying it by the case can give you a pretty good discount from most vendors). If you consider that it keeps them healthier, which can save you from expensive vet bills in the long run, then it's worth it. Plus, think of the time you'll save not having to clean up after their shedding! Also, I've noticed that this brand does not result in the runny, smelly poo that some other, cheaper brands do. Try this food out on your cats -- you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diets Venison and Green Pea Formula Canned Cat Food Review

Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diets Venison and Green Pea Formula Canned Cat Food
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I love these Limited Ingredient Diet foods from Natural Balance. Feeding them makes it easy to feed cats with food sensitivities. The protein sources aren't the ones in most commercial pet foods, so they're perfect animals who become sensitive to an ingredient (like chicken) after years of being fed that one protein. Thanks for making these, Natural Balance! They ROCK!

Smartcat Tiger Diner Portion Control Cat Bowl - BLUE Review

Smartcat Tiger Diner Portion Control Cat Bowl - BLUE
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Recently, my vet suggested that I keep tighter reins on my kitties' food portions to prevent obesity and vomiting from eating too fast. She suggested one of those portion-control dog bowls that forces them to eat slower by chasing the food around the shapes molded into the bowl. But everything I found was too large for a cat. This was the perfect solution to my fat, bored cat problem! I was a bit skeptical since this is a new item and no one else has rated it, but I am so pleased.
My big Siamese, Capone, looked at me like I was crazy when I took away his favorite old ceramic bowl. But my Himilayan kitten, Java, took to it right away and thought digging out the kibbles was such great fun. Soon, Capone wanted to play too and they spent hours finding a myriad of ways to get the food out. They attacked it from the top, the sides, and while looking into it upside down on their backs. Through all this, they were not able to tip it over, though a more agressive cat might. Since it has paw-sized holes all the way around, multiple cats can get at it simultaneously, alleviating the problem of the Alpha cat taking over the dish. In fact, Java found great delight in stealing the kibbles that Capone was trying to get at from the opposite side.
Pros: Easy to assemble, easy to clean, sturdy plastic. Has a larger storage tube that works like a gravity feeder for multiple cats. Some stores sell it with a free, ribbed placemat that is a MUST for containing the kibble, especially on non-carpeted surfaces. The clear color blends right into any decor -- it doesn't look like the space-age toy that shows in the pic. Can't speak for the other colors, they're pretty bright!
Cons: This probably isn't a design flaw as much as a "flaw" in my kitten's personality, but he couldn't resist pulling every ounce of the kibble out onto the mat and arranging it into little piles. They ate it later, so no big deal, but it sure looks messy for a while. To solve this problem, I bought an inexpensive plastic mat that has a raised edge to prevent the bowl from being pulled off it, and to contain the kibble on the mat. Also, even with the gravity extension tube attached, this dish cannot hold more than about a cup and a half of food, so you'll have to use multiple dishes or some other feeder if you're away for more than a day or two.
Overall, I think this is a great, fun solution to overeating and will keep my cats slimmer and more mentally stimulated. I highly recommend.

Royal Canin Canned Cat Food, Adult Instinctive (Pack of 24 3-Ounce Cans) Review

Royal Canin Canned Cat Food, Adult Instinctive (Pack of 24 3-Ounce Cans)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First the good news: My cats (all 7 of them) absolutely love this food. 2 of our most finicky will eat almost nothing else, but they gobble this down. Clearly this is a good-tasting food.
Now the bad news: Seems very expensive for what you get. A look at the ingredient list reveals by-products and several grain fillers such as wheat gluten that you don't usually find in a so-called "premium" food. Not sure why exactly it is so expensive. They also do not even make this available in a 5.5 or 6 oz can, only the 3 oz size - so for multiple cat households the cost of these little cans can really add up in a hurry.
So bottom line, it is definitely a good-tasting food and if your cats are picky eaters it is worth a try. However, the high cost and lack of a larger can option makes this a tough sell. I am trying to find a better/more economical food that all of my cats will like, so I can transition them off this.

Pastured Organic Raw Chicken Steaks for Cats - 1.2 lbs. Review

Pastured Organic Raw Chicken Steaks for Cats - 1.2 lbs.
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I initially tried a few brands of prepared raw cat food, including this one before eventually settling on making my own raw cat food. I started out with prepared raw foods because i thought it would be hard to make my own. I was wrong it's not hard at all. My cats are now fully transitioned to raw food and they love it very much. But this food is a good choice to start if you simply want to give raw food a try. It is neat not, messy and you dont have to worry about measuring and mixing cat recipes.
All in all my cats never really ate this product unless i cooked it or mixed it with a commercial brand that they liked. But this says nothing about the product itself because cats are notoriously picky eaters and at the time they were also not happy about me switching their food and introducing them to raw food for the first time. My rating is based on the cost not the quality of the product.
I realize that this brand is pasturized, farm raised, organic chickens ... and that probaby accounts for the price ... if all of that is important to you then this product is a great choice for the price. But i personally find it too expensive to feed a cat this way long term.
I have since discovered that buying powdered cat food supplements plus raw ground meat at my local supermarket is a much cheaper alternative to buying the meat already prepared. Ground turkey in Kroger is $1.50 per pound and the supplements are an additional $3 (per pound of meat) compare that with this product which is 1.2lbs for $7.50 + s/h.
So that works out to a cost of $4.50 per pound for me to make my own cat food vs. ($7.50 + shipping) per pound to buy this prepared stuff. Also consider that buying 10 cans of 3.5oz premium canned cat food would cost $6.00
(1 lb of raw meat feeds my 2 adult male cats for 3-4 days, much cheaper than buying "premium" commercial brands of wet cat food which are laden with preservatives and have very little real meat in them)
NOTE: If you buy ground meat in the supermarket for your cat ... you MUST get a powdered supplement for cats to mix in the meat because the ground meat found in supermarkets is meant for human consumption, so it doesnt have the vital bone and organ meat that a cat needs. Adding supplements provide the added nutrition a cat would get from organs and bone. (I was not able to find these supplements for making raw food in local pet stores i had to buy them online.) And mixing the supplements and meat for the cat is simple as pie!
My main reason for giving this product 3 stars is for the overall cost to feed a cat long term on this prepared organic stuff. I dont want people who are thinking about switching their cats to a raw food diet to be discouraged, since raw food is the best diet for a cat. I want to present options ... as i showed above it can be done much more affordably using ground meat and powdered supplements. If you can afford to go organic, farm raised, etc., for your cat that is even better but not neccessary to improve the cats health.
Matter of fact if cost is that big an issue simply giving your cat properly supplemented raw food a few times per week instead of 100% dry food will drastically improve their health and save them from common cat ailments while not pinching the pocketbook.
Remember Cats are not vegetarians, Just like Lions and Tigers they are "obligate carnivores" ... they need quality meat for optimal health.

Wellness Dry Cat Food for Adult Cats, Indoor Health Formula, 11.5 Pound Bag Review

Wellness Dry Cat Food for Adult Cats, Indoor Health Formula, 11.5 Pound Bag
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When we adopted our cat, she had spent 9 months in a cage at the humane society. She was scrawny, cranky, and not happy. We went to an all natural pet store, and the woman suggested this type of food. At that store, we paid nearly $30 for a small bag that lasted maybe a month or two.
But, this food was like a miricle! Our cat perked up, started playing, was curious and happy. Her coat was shining. She was like a new cat.
Something else awesome? Her poop doesn't smell nearly as bad as it did with regular, crap-filled food.
This stuff is amazing. Why only 4 stars, then? The price. This is one of the best prices I've found for this type of cat food, but the brand itself is very expensive. But, our cat is part of our family, it's worth it.

We don't use this as a regular diet, but rather for "cat treats", because our cats absolutely love it. We don't believe it is as healthy and beneficial as implied after reading the ingredient list, but it is still ahead of most commercial dry foods. However, the price here is not too good; we buy the 3 lb bags from Trader Joe's for 6.49 each, which of course would be about nineteen & a half bucks for three.

I'm a cat breeder, and believe in the healthy advantages of some raw food in my queen's and kittens' diet. This product is convenient, healthy mix of primarily organ meat, high in calcium, and I don't have to worry about too-long exposure to air, etc. during prep time. It's pricey but worth it! Amazon's price is lower that some of the pet specialty stores.

Natural Balance Ultra Premium Formula Dry Cat Food Review

Natural Balance Ultra Premium Formula Dry Cat Food
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We are breeders of sphynx (hairless) cats. Prior to Natural Balance, the only way we could get our cats to eat dry food was to mix it with warm water and a half can of canned cat food, usually Iams or Friskies when money was low. Our local feed store recommended Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance as a healthy and tasty alternative. Our adult cats love it...no more "hunger strikes" holding out for canned food. Even our kittens started eating it at only 8 weeks, when mixed with a bit of warm water. Since there are no 'fillers', the cats are eating less to become full, which to me justifies the higher price.

Merrick California Roll Cat Food 5.5 oz (24 Count Case) Review

Merrick California Roll Cat Food 5.5 oz (24 Count Case)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have one cat who is really not into canned food at all - unusual, I know. But, I put down a can of Merrick's 'California Roll' and she totally ignored the dry food that I had mixed with her favorite treat, Kitty Kaviar (fish flakes) and dove into the canned. I think she ate close to the entire can by herself, in fact, purring like crazy the entire time!
If you have a picky eater, try this food. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised! Oh, and this really doesn't smell (icky) like your typical canned cat food, either.
