Feline Greenies Chicken Flavor Cat Treats Review

Feline Greenies Chicken Flavor Cat Treats
Average Reviews:

Our three cats are enthusiastic about Pounce cat treats, so we expected them to be equally enthusiastic about Greenies. They were not.
They each tried three treats and then left. Our long-haired orange male left to throw up his treats, but being a long-hair, he throws up from grooming his fur so much. I do not necessarily attribute the vomiting to Greenies.
I did search for menadione sodium bisulfite (MSB) as another reviewer suggested, but I did not find in my search that menadione sodium bisulfite (MSB) is a poison. Menadione is an irritant in its pure form and irritates skin and mucous membranes, but the study I read indicated no adverse effects from menadione sodium bisulfite (MSB)in animal studies.
We won't be buying Greenies again because of the lukewarm reception it received, but, if your cat likes it, I wouldn't worry about the menadione sodium bisulfite (MSB) it contains. It might be a problem if that was all your cat ate, but treats are treats, not standard diets, and should be given in only small amounts.

Feline Greenies 3 oz. Package Salmon Review

I really wish Amazon would list ingredients for the food products they sell, whether it's for human or animal consumption. For some reason I assumed Greenies were natural and it's completely my fault for not looking for the ingredients on another site before buying, but yeah... these are corn-based and thus not very different from the junk you can get in the supermarket. Oh, except these cost more. So why should I buy them?? Sure my cat likes them but she seems to like 95% of the treats I give her, plus simply liking them doesn't make them good/healthy for her - much like inhaling a box of Cheez-Its is deliciously naughty for me.
Here's the list of ingredients in the salmon Greenies for anyone who cares:
Chicken Meal, Ground Brewers Rice, Ground Wheat, Corn Gluten Meal, Poultry Fat (Preserved With Mixed Tocopherols), Sprayed Dried Hydrolyzed Chicken Protein Concentrate, Oat Fiber, Salmon Meal, Natural Chicken Flavor, Vegetable Oil (Preserved With Mixed Tocopherols), Natural Poultry and Fish Flavor, Sodium Gluconate, Brewer's Dried Yeast, Calcium Carbonate, Potassium Chloride, Glucono-delta-lactone, Citric Acid, Choline Chloride, Taurine, Vitamins: [Vitamin A Supplement, D-Activated Animal Sterol (Source of Vitamin D3 Supplement), dl-Alpha Tocopherol Acetate (Source of Vitamin E), Niacin Supplement, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Riboflavin Supplement, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (Source of Vitamin K Activity), Folic Acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement], Minerals: [Zinc Proteinate; Copper Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, Iron Sulfate, Sodium Selenite, Cobalt Carbonate, Ethylenediamine Dihydriodide], Mixed Tocopherols, Rosemary Extract, DL Methionine, Chlorophyll.

Feline Greenies Variety Pack Cat Treats 3 Pack Review

My cat loves these. He has always liked cat treats such as Pounce, but they always made him sick. I would just give him 1 or 2 pieces and 5 minutes later he'd vomit on my carpet! Greenies he can eat and they don't make him sick. Every day when I get home he waits impatiently for his treats. My other cat who never liked cat treats, not surprisingly, has no interest in these. The price is good too. Even with shipping it's cheaper than what I paid in a local store.

Feline Greenies 3 oz. Package Ocean Fish Review

My dowager cat loves, loves, loves these treats. She meows for them whenever I walk by the cabinet where they are stored and will balance on her back legs to reach for one, if I'm moving too slowly. Although I had been buying them at a local pet supply shop, they kept running out, so I checked amazin' Amazon.com and of course, they had them at a decent price. I did have to pay shipping (Prime has me spoiled!) but they were still an OK value compared to the local, unreliable shop.

Feline Greenies Variety 6 Pack Review

Feline Greenies Variety 6 Pack
Average Reviews:

I wanted to point out that these treats are different from the dog Greenies. Dog Greenies are chewy, cat Greenies are crunchy, like dry cat food. Because of this I don't know if they actually work (if they're the same texture what makes them different from cat food?) but I don't think they're dangerous, as a previous reviewer said. Canine Greenies have caused health problems, but from what I understand it is because the dog didn't chew it well (like most dogs) and because of the softer texture it swelled in the dogs stomach.
My cats love the salmon flavor, the package recommends six pieces three times a day, not to exceed 18 pieces a day. I give my cats about six a day, all at once. They don't always chew them though, which is the only problem I've had with the product, swallowing them whole doesn't bother my cats at all though. I have one cat, Garfield, who is very picky, but he loves these treats. So I think its probably safe to say that these shouldn't cause health problems like the canine Greenies can and also that your cat will really like them!

Feline Greenies 3 oz. Package Tuna Review

Feline Greenies 3 oz. Package Tuna

Neither of my two cats would eat these treats. In fact, neither of my dogs would eat them either-- and they're willing to eat the occasional "cat cookie"! I looked on the package and it looks like the main ingredient is corn meal. These treats look and smell like cheap dog food, not fish. The scent is not at all appealing. So basically I paid for an overpriced 3 oz. bag of corn meal based pet food and now I'm stuck with a bag because none of my four pets will eat it.

Zuke's Cat Treat Purrz Tender Chicken Review

My Mommy let me write my own review about Zuke's Natural Purrz. It's absolutely purr-fect! Mommy found Natural Purrz at her local co-op. When I smelled the bag, I got excited! When she popped one into my mouth, I wuz in love!
At the moment, the co-op is out of stock, which is why Mommy checked to see if Amazon had them. She says it's available thru a reseller but the shipping costs are a lot. But she's going to have to do SOMETHING because I miss my Purrz. No cat should be without them!

My cat is a rescued feral who has some gum and intestinal issues left over from his humble beginnings. He loves the taste of these treats. Unlike many kinds of cat food and treats, the Greenies do not give him gas or diarrhea. And his mouth and coat (he is is a meticulous groomer) smell less like a dumpster. Good for him. Good for us.

Feline Greenies Ocean Fish Flavor Cat Treat 6 pack Review

I got these "mints" for my cats.
Three out of my six cats would eat them. The ones who will eat them find them very appetizing. The others won't eat anything at all besides their cat food, so I wasn't too surprised.
I really can't tell if their breath is minty fresh, but the label seems nutritious and it's one other way to give them treats.
Treat time is a special time between us, they are happy to get rewards for their great behavior. If it freshens their breath at the same time, I'm all for it.

Zuke's Natural Purrz Cat Treats, 3-Ounce Review

Zuke's Natural Purrz Cat Treats, 3-Ounce
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Zuke's produces some great products. Recently, I tried the "Natural Purrz" healthy moist cat treats (Savory Salmon flavored). The nice things about these treats is that they are low-calorie (only 2 calories per little moist treat). Also, Zuke's products are made with high quality protein and grains, and all ingredients come from the US (Made in the USA!). That said, these small treats remind me of my cat's monthly Heartgard medication - it's only palatable to some cats. Seamus, my fatty tabby, likes these, but not as much as the Greenie crunchy treats. Echo, my svelt black cat, won't touch these moist treats. Overall, they are a great option for a low-calorie treat, but use in moderation. It also comes in a "tender chicken" flavor.
The active ingredients in Natural Purrz (Savory Salmon) include: salmon, barley flour, rice flour, vegetable glycerin, malted barley, tapioca, gelatin, water, menhaden fish oil, brewer's yeast, natural flavors, lecithin, cultured whey, acetic acid, salt. Vitamins and Minerals: Vitamins A, D3, E, B12, taurine, ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) calcium pantothenate, riboflavin (B2) niacin, thiamine mononitrate (B1), pyridoxine hydrochloride (B6), folic acid, zinc oxide, sodium selenite (source of selenium).
So, overall, one paw down for overall palability... That said, they don't go to waste - while the protein content is likely too high for my dog, JP loves these as small additions to his Kong toy...
