Nature's Variety Instinct Rabbit Formula Canned Cat Food Review

(More customer reviews)I understand the qualms about rabbits--they seem more cuddly than chickens or cows, so why feed them to our pets? Aside from nature being nature--rabbits are prey for many animals--we have reasons for giving our cat rabbit. He, like many pets, has terrible food allergies and will scratch raw, bleeding bald spots on his face and neck if we feed him the wrong food. Rabbit is one of very few meats that he can eat without having this problem, and that is why it is found in cat food. It is more hypo-allergenic for kitties with these problems, along with a grain-free diet. We have found Instinct to be the only thing that works for our poor suffering kitty to keep him healthy.

Felidae Canned Cat Food for Adult Cats and Kittens, Grain Free Formula (Pack of 12 13 Ounce Cans) Review

(More customer reviews)I've been feeding Wellness grain free for a couple years now with great results for my 3 cats. I believe the cost of a top quality food is well worth it in healthy, happy cats and reduced vet bills, but still the cost of Wellness has been prohibitive. I was excited to see Felidae had a grain free formula in the larger sized cans, and for a much lower price, so I am trying it. Just switched them over this week, so far so good. The bowls have been licked clean, and while I questioned the whole peas when I saw them, they weren't left in the bowl. The ingredients and quality of the Felidae seems comparable to the Wellness, so unless I find information indicating otherwise (and I've been looking), I think we'll stick with Felidae.

Fancy Feast Gourmet Kitten Food Review

(More customer reviews)We use this kitten food for our feral kittens that come to us for some loving. They all enjoy this food, we haven't had one yet that doesn't dig right in. The smell isn't too strong either, even the sea food one. For the more wild kittens we find this food is a great ice-breaker to get them to start eating when they are still scared. Many of our kittens (and the mothers) come to us in poor condition; low weight and more worms than cat it seems. They fatten right up on this food, and you can see the difference on a daily basis.
When they get their worm medicine, they will often get sick and throw up their food. This stuff also doesn't smell too bad then either. Just so you don't think this is a post written by a company rep. :p
For some of the smaller kittens we get, we also mix in meat-based baby food. Mix it all together with some water (they never seem to drink enough), microwave for 8-9 seconds so it isn't too hot and serve it. My wife and I love watching the change in the cats as they grow into their bodies.
We also use this food for older cats that have weight issues, such as those caused by renal failure (loss of appetite, upset stomach, dehydration). It's a moist food, easy to add water to it, and they seem to respond well. When they start to turn away from this food, we know the end is near since it's hard to get them to eat anything if they don't eat this.
For pricing, we often find it cheaper at local stores. And, oddly enough, the single cans are frequently on sale well below the price of the 24-box price-per-can. But, Amazon is nice because of the home delivery.

Nature's Variety Freeze-Dried Raw Small Bites for Dogs and Cats, Lamb Formula, 2.9 oz Review

(More customer reviews)I have the most sensitive dogs. Both my Shepherds, Belgium and German, are quick to have diarrhea. I've tried Iams, Science Diet, Bill Jack, you name it we have tried it.
Finally, my breeder suggested the Nature's Variety dried dog food which left my dogs still a little inconsistent. Then, I found a store in town that carried the freeze-dried small bits. Wow! what a difference it has made. I add 5 nuggets, which are the size of a large cookie dough ball, to some Royal Canine German Shepherd dried dog food and Voila. We have not had ONE incident of diarrhea since. Venison and lamb are their favorites. They are also the perfect size to hide a pill. I highly recommend this product.

Merrick Gourmet Entrees Cat Canned Food Variety Pack Review

(More customer reviews)In the past few months, I have upgraded all the dry and canned food that my 4 cats eat (they used to eat Science Diet). This was the 1st high quality canned food I tried for them and they all love it! I have 2 seniors (aged 15) and 2 adults (aged 4) and they jump up and pat me when I'm opening the Merrick. I would recommend this great cat food to all cat owners. Take a look at the labels - it's all real food product you can identify and it's made by a family owned business with great quality control. This company loves pets too!

(More customer reviews)I don't see how anyone couldn't like this food. Our cat, a male about seven years old, hated any canned food. This is the only one he will touch! Our new kitten loves it also--she is about a year old. She eats a can per day. She was undernourished and had been viciously attacked out in the wild and on top of that had had a litter of kittens, even though she was still a kitten herself. This food has helped her so much. She is bright eyed and plays and looks like a different cat since we started her on this.

Nature's Variety Canned Cat Food, Feline Instinct Chicken Diet, 3-Ounce Cans (Pack of 24) Review

(More customer reviews)My cat is a kibble addict, she is over weight and I have been trying to get her on a canned cat food. After a lot of research this is one of the foods that I picked for her to try. I have not done the math yet to see if this food is fairly priced for the dry matter content but that was something I had planed on calculating if my cat liked it. She did not like it, she ate it but I can tell she did not care for it because she would lick off the gravy and leave the rest. To solve this problem I puraide the cat food, adding extra water and she still did not eat all of it. I resorted to mixing in kibble to get her to finnish off the can.
The fact that my cat did not care for this food is not the reason I give it 4 stars. This cat food like many others contains useless fruits and vegetables that cats don't need and their reasoning for using them is probably to boost the protein count . My research (after finding a handy nutrition break down on cat info net) also showed that this cat food has a higher fat content then protein which sadly is an industry wide problem.

ZiwiPeak Grain-Free Real Meat Canned Dog Food, Venison, 13 Ounce Can Review

(More customer reviews)It should have been no surprise to me that the ZiwiPeak canned venison is a hit with my dog as he already enjoys the ZiwiPeak Air Dried Venison Dog Food...but I was indeed surprised at HOW MUCH he loves the ZP canned. I've been feeding my dog, Titan, another brand of canned dog food so that I could hide his different medications and get him to eat them without having to wrestle his powferful jaws like the late beloved Crocodile Hunter. While he enjoyed this other brand of 100% venison canned food, he was on to me with the whole pill hiding thing and would root around his bowl and eat around the pills. Titan is a food motivated dog (you'd think he was a lab rather than a pittie) and usually I could count on telling him to sit, give me paw and then literally drop the ball of wet food with the pills hidden inside into his mouth and he would gulp them down. Well, a couple of weeks ago, he wouldn't eat the wet in his dish, and when I tried the old 'drop in his mouth' trick, he let the ball of wet food hit him in the snout and didn't even lick it off; he just watched me pick up the mess and waited for me to wipe off his face.
Enter ZP canned. First, this stuff doesn't look like normal canned food. It has such a fresh quality to it. Titan loved it instantly. In fact, I don't even have to hide the pills anymore. I feed him just like an 80+ baby, spoon feeding him right from the can, except that I place a pill on the spoon as it goes in his mouth. No getting my hands all messy with shaping the canned food around a pill to conceal it from him. Titan knows the pill is in there, and as long as he gets a mouthful of the ZP canned, he doesn't care.
Oh, and he won't even touch the old stuff with or without pills. He knows he's moved on up in the quality of food and there's no turning back!

Fancy Feast Elegant Medleys for Cats, Tuscany, 3-Ounce Cans (Pack of 24) Review

(More customer reviews)I just cancelled my subscription for this. The last box I opened did not have the flavors count the label claims. Half of the cans were turkey. The turkey flavor has seemed to be adding up in my cabinet. Now I suspect it's because I have been receiving more of the turkey flavor than of the tuna and chicken. If you are going to be buying this, check when you open the box to see if it really is the variety of flavors you wanted to buy. The cat likes these flavors but I'll be buying individual cans.
