have a Golden Retriever and German Shepherd and they both loved this product. They had been eating
Iams and Eukenuba, but after reading about what's in dog food, we found this product to be superior.
This is fed to our boys everyday and they eat every little piece with or without wet food mixed in.
Would highly recommend.

How disappointing to receive the product and find that it was several months past the date stamped on the packaging. As a longtime Amazon shopper I was surprised...I have come to expect great delivery and quality product. I won't order the blue again from this source.

(More customer reviews)We have 4 small dogs and our challenge has always been to find a natural, healthy dog food, made especially for small dogs, that our dogs actually enjoy eating! They are very particular! Simply said, they love this dog food. With other brands, we could usually just leave food in the bowl and the dogs seemed to eat only when they absolutely had to for survival. Now we have to put portions in their bowls because they will eat as much Blue Buffalo as they can... every kernel! I think they would eat until they explode if we didn't "police" the food bowl! We've tried every dog food on the grocery store shelves and this is the best. I know if our dogs had thumbs and type this review, they'd give Blue Buffalo five stars.

(More customer reviews)I've been giving this brand of dog food to my small dogs (10-12 pounds each), since the tainted dog food incident a few years ago (it takes them probably 6-8 months to go through 30 pounds).
When I got a new puppy (doberman), I thought this would be a little expensive, since he eats a LOT. I looked through PetCo at just about all the different dog foods around this same price (I didn't really look at the ones that were more, since I'm pretty happy with the food). I found that this was the ONLY dog food in this price range that had the first TWO ingredients being meat (or meat by product). In fact, many of the dog foods (the kinds that you find in the grocery store) actually had the FIRST ingredient being filler. In case you don't know, the largest quantity ingredient is listed 1st and so on down to the smallest.
He did have diahrea for the first couple of days, but that is because I did not transition him to this food. Sadly, he had moved from one house to another house to our house within 36 hours, and I did not get information from the original owner about what he had been eating. I mention this mostly to refute the other lower rating - most dogs need to transition in foods or they will get diahrea. So typically, one should mix the old dog food with the new one, in decreasing increments over about two weeks, until the dog is eating 100% of the new food.

I researched on line and bought this one. First of all, as soon as she hears the bistro dispensing the food she runs to the machine and devours the food. For her last meal I add warm water to as recommended on the package to release its natural smells and flavors.

he also likes to eat grass. i switched around to various dog foods looking for the answer. after buying blue buffalo life protection he has only thrown up once in a month. he has also quit eating grass. i didn't have to blend blue buffalo with how old dog food. i just poured it in his bowl and he loved it. this is a PICKY dog as well. some dog foods he just wouldn't eat. i know that blue buffalo has superior ingredients to most grocery stores food. this has made a BIG difference in the way he looks and act as well. not having to clean up dog throw up a few times a week is worth the extra cost between cheap dog food and great dog food. the dogs that died from poisons in their food were from cheap, artificial ingredients. i love my dog so much i would do anything and spend anything to keep him around longer. wouldn't you?

I would give them both a whole can daily if it didn't cost so much, although this is the best price I've found. I use this can food only to mix in garlic/brewers yeast tablets and Liquid Health level 5000, (which is Glucosamine with Perna mussel, MSM & shark cartilage (chrondroitin) bromelain amoung other things)the best joint product I found for the dogs. I also put down their mouth a fish oil capsual right before they eat the can food. My dogs are big dogs, 9 years old one very active & healthy, the other is good, but allergies and going to a Chiropractor every 3 weeks( has helped him greatly (he had neck and upper back problems; what vets call spondolous (spelling?)He is doing good. They get a primal deffense(probiotic by Garden of life)and a blue/green algae tablet put down their mouth first thing in the morning, then later I feed them the can food. I also have Natures Variety grain free dry food out for them if they get hungery they may eat,and I make patties to freez that they get,along with raw chicken necks or backs daily, (vet said raw chicken necks or backs were safe and would keep teeth clean, it's cleaning them, most of the build up is gone of the back teeth where they were getting it.)The patties are raw ground turky,flax meal, eggs, shredded corrots, brocoli, aspargus and celery blended up, along with frozen blueberries, maybe afew cranberries, fresh apples sredded, olive oil, sea salt, garlic powder,Perfect food by G of L. mix all and make paties in freezer bags, they love to eat them frozen, it's like a treat to them.

(More customer reviews)Though flea free, our 4lb Chihuahua was always scratching. After trying all the special shampoos and creams, our vet recommended a change of diet and suggested Blue Buffalo.
We'd switched to the "super premium" dog foods before (Canidae, Innova, Orijen), all of which he either would not eat or gave him the runs far longer the usual "adjustment" period.
Nearly a year later, he is thriving on Blue Buffalo. The ingredients are wonderful and wholesome, he actually gets excited at meal time, his coat is soft and shiny and his skin has stopped itching.
I'd like to note that those other brands weren't bad at all, they just weren't right for our little guy. Dogs are as particular and different as people, and because your Fido doesn't do well on Brand X doesn't make it a bad food, it just means you haven't found the right one for him. Just make sure the ingredients are good and wholesome, balanced and preferably as natural as possible.

(More customer reviews)I started feeding this to my 5 month old Yorkie; he has no problems transitioning to the food. We feed him two meals a day of this, with treat supplements and the occasional wet food (1/week or so).
He doesn't seem to notice the difference between the 'Life Bits' and the regular food. (He doesn't avoid them or anything, as I've heard of other dogs doing this).

Bil Jac Small Breed Select Dry Dog Food Review

(More customer reviews)Roxie is a chorkie with a fussy digestive system. She isn't moved much by treats and was being given boiled chicken and rice per the vet for an intestinal infection. I started replacing the rice with the Bil-Jac food on the advice of her trainer and the results have been amazing. She actually LOVES it. I still give her boiled chicken but the amount is drastically reduced and augmented by 2/5 of a cup of Bil-Jack and wet with a little of the broth, twice a day. (correct amount for her wt of 8 lbs.) Her energy level is amazing, her digestive issues are gone and her coat is glorious. Four paws Up!

We first tried Solid Gold Hundchen Flocken, which is a great product. The kibble, however, was too big for our then 3.2 lb. pup. So, we tried Wellness, but he was getting sick from anything by the brand--whether dry or wet food...or even the treats! After that, we stuck with Blue. However, we still wanted to try Orijen...it was just too rich for him, and he was hyper the entire time and had really horrible #2s. We went back to Blue and will not be switching. Conrad loves Blue Buffalo and has been thriving on it--12 lbs. and with a beautiful soft and shiny coat.
**We never tried to switch foods cold turkey--always with a week or so of transition.**

(More customer reviews)I have a 7-month old terrier/german shep mix (a pound puppy, yes) who seems like she's going to end up around 50 or 60 pounds. I did a lot of research before I went with this brand - I can't afford the high-end food but don't want to settle for cheap stuff just cuz the price is right and this fell right in the middle. It came highly recommended and comes out to about a dollar a day for Betsy. She likes it and seems to be benefitting from it - her coat looks nice, her body is filling out in the right places but she's not fat at all. However, I have never seen a dog poop soooooo much! At first I thought it was just the change in her diet - from street food to good food - but she's been on it for almost 2 months now and it's not letting up. She's healthy, has had all her shots, is in great condition, and eats the right amount according to the chart on the bag. But wow! I was under the impression that the better the food the LESS they poop... not the case with this. At least 3 times a day, minimum, and lots of it. I can only attribute it to the food and will change it when this second bag is gone.
