Do dogs need vitamins? I think they do, and here's why. In our society they are spending much more time indoors than out. Their diet, even with quality dog foods, lacks some of the things that they would take in if free to wander the outdoors. (One of our dogs favorite foods is Brazil Nuts, and they remove the shells themselves!) And like their owners, they may very well be suffering from Hypovitaminosis D, because they get so little sunlight (it is a very widely under-diagnosed and serious problem among humans!). It isn't a good idea to try and address canine vitamin deficiencies with human supplements, however, because a dosage which may be "just right" for you, could literally kill your dog! The best answer is a consistent, life long regimen of a good quality balanced CANINE multi-vitamin. Not piecemeal guesswork and improvisation.
I did a lot of looking to find a reliable canine supplement with detailed dosing information, not just a list of ingredients and a "trust us" attitude. So many pet oriented products leave out vital information, and contain a lot of "snake oil" ingredients, any one of which may be helpful, useless, or harmful to your pet. I wanted quality control, closely regulated consistent ingredients, and known dosages. This product provides this.
When the package arrived, it was one of several boxes on our front porch. I returned home from an outing with one of our dogs, and when we got on the porch he went wild to get at one particular box in the pile, sniffing at it like it was a freshly prepared steak. As it happened, it was the box with these vitamins in it. Needless to say, I have no trouble getting these chewable vitamins in my dogs. In fact, I think they should be kept well out of reach of your pets, as "pigging out" on what they consider to be dog treats could have grave consequences.
In our household, this tub is a 90 day supply. It will vary with the number and sizes of your dogs. But given the cost of vetrinary care these days, the cost of maintaining your dogs on these supplements is a modest investment in prevention. I highly recommend this product to all responsible dog owners. Over time, you may see a real improvement in your dogs, especially an older animal who may be suffering the effects of deficiencies. Just keep in mind that it may take weeks or months for the levels of some vitamins and minerals to reach normal levels, so while a quick turnaround is possible, slow and steady improvements are more the norm.
