Evanger's Super Premium 100% Venison for Dogs Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My 15 year old dog stopped eating. She lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks, and just had no interest in eating anything, canned or dried. I tried several varieties, canned and dried, and in those 14 days, she ate maybe 1/2 can of food.
I went to my local pet store and bought several different varieties of dog food, worked out the ones that she would eat, but even then, she was down to maybe 1/2 can a day. Being a wolf hybrid, and only weighing 40 pounds, I was afraid she was on her last legs, so I went online and ordered several cans of different brands and flavors of dog food to see if I could get her to eat.
Of those kinds of dog food, only Evanger's consistently works. True, I still can't feed her the same flavor twice in a row, cause she won't eat it the second time around, but when I mix the grain free food with her dry dog food, she WILL eat the whole thing (1 full can of Evanger's + her normal serving of dry). It takes her all day, but she DOES eat it. At first, she 'snarfed' it, so I was feeding her two cans a day, but then she sorta lost interest again after gaining all her weight back. That's when I hit on the new 'I refuse to eat the same flavor two days in a row' issue, but at 15, I figure I can live with it.
So, really, don't care HOW they do it. I just know that all the other brands I have tried, this is the only one that is cost-usable-on-a-monthly-basis, and my dog will eat, so I will keep buying it as long as I can, and as long as my dog is still alive.

Halo Spot's Stew Natural Dry Dog Food, Adult Dog, Wholesome Chicken Recipe, 10-Pound Bag Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)When we had that dog food scare where Peoples pets were getting sick and some were dying I switched to HALO and haven't looked back. My dogs and cats love this brand and all have benefited from eating it. I will be a faithful customer for as long as this brand of dog food is on the market. It's packed with very nutritious ingredients which makes it wholesome for my pets. I alternate between the Spots Stew Natural Dry food and my home cooked Chicken Stew for my dogs. For my cats I strictly feed them a HALO diet because they are up in age and this is the most balanced cat food on the market. Keep it up HALOHalo Spot's Stew Natural Dry Dog Food, Adult Dog, Wholesome Chicken Recipe, 10-Pound Bag

Nature's Variety Dry Dog Food, Diet Prairie Canine New Zealand Venison Meal and Millet, 15-Pound Bag Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I've got a Boston Terrier that is so cute he melts people's hearts... until he rips a fart and melts their faces off with a cloud of sulfurous doom. I was feeding him a high-protein food, which he loved, but the vet recommended I try something with some grain in it to mellow the gas. After a few slow shifts to different foods, we tried this one.
The little guy still toots every 10 minutes or so, but the scent is undetectable now.
So, five stars without a doubt. I can bring my little fart monster to work with me now, and don't have to worry about people filing complaints with the health department or OSHA.

Nature's Variety Dry Dog Food, Prairie Canine Beef Meal & Barley, 30-Pound Bag Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My bulldogs aren't particularly picky but with the health concerns of the breed, I AM! I researched a fair amount of brands and decided that natures variety fit my requirements. The dogs love it and I am confident that it is meeting their nutritional requirements. I will, however, supplement their diets with glucosamine and omega.
I am extremely happy to have found the 30 lb. bag on Amazon. I signed up for the monthly delivery with the 15% off. What a deal! No more lugging it home from the pet store in extreme heat or blizzard snow!
Highly recomended for bulldogs, French or English!

Newman's Own Advanced Dog Chicken & Rice Formula For Active Or Senior Dogs Dry Dog Food Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I read labels. I was really happy to see a dog food free of 'poultry by products' and other questionable items. The pieces are small, the taste must be good as our dog gobbles this up like candy. Since switching from another 'vet sold' pet food, our pooch's health, looks, sleep, demeanor and well everything is much much better. He is an extremely active dog and this food provides easily accessible nutrients and bulk. We live in the backwoods of Montana and now we will have to mail order it in. Even with the added expense, it's worth every dime. Simply...... THE BEST.

Merrick Grammys Pot Pie Dog Food 30lb Bag Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I have tried my miniature schnauzers on several brands and they like this the best. They like it dry and they also like it mixed with a little warm water for gravy. The only problem I have is finding it. This is a good price even with the shipping.

TimberWolf Black Forrest Lamb and Venison Canid Formula Dry Dog Food Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I have tried numerous dog food brands on our Bichon Frise.
Solid Gold Hund-n-Flocken Adult Maintenance Dog Food
Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance Ultra Premium Dog Food- net wt. 5 lbs.
Nature's Recipe Adult Dog Lamb Meal & Rice Formula- net wt. 40 lbs.
He has allergies and has gotten a little plump so I was looking for high quality food with not a lot of unsafe 'filler' material. This food has a well balanced combination of good nutrition and 'taste'-for the dog, not me - as is evident by him devouring it without hesitation.
The kibble comes in a small size that is easy for my dog to eat. Unlike other foods that have a strong odor, this food is quite fragrant and does not give him bad breath of 'lamb' or 'fish breath'.
Since starting my dog on this food, his coat has looked healthier than it ever has. His stool frequency and consistency is more solid when compared to other foods with a higher protein content - he used to get runny stools. My dog is a happy and healthy dog. He does not hesitate to eat this food, when I serve it. The aroma is not as repulsive as other foods, which have a higher concentration of fish products or the lamb protein sources. Because of the fragrant aroma, my dog's breath is not bad.
HE and I recommend this product:
VERDICT:
Two thumbs and two paws up for this one.

Taste of the Wild Dry Dog Food, Pacific Stream Canine Formula with Smoked Salmon, 15-Pound Bag Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)We have a 2 year old King Cavalier. He has had digestive issues since being puppy. We've tried everything...5 different foods, both wet and dry...even was on Prescription ID for a period of time at the Vet's recommendation. Nothing seemed to work.
Someone suggested Taste of the Wild Salmon. WOW!!! Not only is my dog eating, but his stools are perfect in color and consistency. We were on Buffalo Blue, but that seemed to be hit or miss as well...causing many days of vomit and diarrhea. Again, when we changed to Taste of the Wild- everything disappeared...not more vomit, not more diarrhea.
Granted, it's like wine, some will like it, some will not. No need for negative reviews, but keep in mind, if nothing else works for your dog's digestive system, why not try it. We did...and we are hooked now...so is Bodie :-)

Evolve Nature's Menu Chicken, Whitefish & Sweet Potato Baked Dog Food Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I adopted a dog in Oct. 2007, and started trying different foods... grocery brands, Mighty dog, Iams, Eukanuba, and so forth, in various formulations. She will eat almost anything, whether or not it agrees with her intestinal system, but I wanted something healthy for her that would not have us running for the outdoor potty all day (or night) long. She liked Iams, but ended up being constipated half the time, also unpleasant! I saw some trial-sized bags in a pet store, and bought a couple. OMG, can I say my dog loves this food AND it agrees with her system? In addition to it being a great food (check out the ingredients), I can literally give her pieces of this as treats and rewards, she likes it that much. So many people who saw her when I first got her, and see her now, are extremely impressed at how much better she looks too. Since no one food is perfect for every dog, I highly recommend trying a small bag first, and then see if your dog likes it as much as mine does. As much as she likes it, I think she actually eats a bit less of it, because it's denser in calories, proteins and vitamins than most other foods, so it works out pricewise to be reasonable. I've also given it to my foster dogs, and their coats also improved on this food.

Castor & Pollux Ultramix Canine Formula Dry Dog Food Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)After switching my cats from Iams to Castor & Pollux, we decided that it was the dog's turn. Our three medium sized dogs (all around 45lbs) had been eating Iams Lamb Meal & Rice Formula for about 3 years. Even though Iams is considered a premium food, our concerns were:
(1) the third ingredient is corn meal and one of the proteins is chicken by-product meal (Chicken by-product meal consists of the ground, rendered, clean parts of the carcass of slaughtered chicken, such as necks, feet, undeveloped eggs and intestines, exclusive of feathers, except in such amounts as might occur unavoidable in good processing practice).
(2) Our dogs were putting on weight despite the fact that they are active dogs, and
(3) An olfactory-related concern - when resting, the dogs passed gas - a lot of gas!

The gas got us. Even though Castor & Pollux is a more expensive dog food, we decided that it was worth a try. Forty-five pounds of dog food later, I'm happy that we switched because the dogs love the food, their coats are healthy, they are slimming down with no loss of energy, and, best of all, the gas issue is no longer an issue.
Since this information isn't listed on the Amazon product page, and since ingredients are a main consideration when purchasing pet food, Castor& Pollux Canine Weight Management ingredients are (from the back of the bag):
Chicken, Chicken Meal, Ground Whole Grain Barley, Oat Groats, Ground Whole Grain Sorghum, Brewers Rice, Turkey Meal, Rice Protein Concentrate, Dried Beet Pulp, Dried Potatoes, Chicken Fat Preserved with Mixed Tocopherols (form of Vitamin E), Natural Chicken Flavor, Dried Egg Product, Salmon Meal, Cultured Whey, Dried Carrots, Dried Bananas, Dried Apples, Chicken Cartilage (natural source of Glucosamine & Chondroitin), Ground Flaxseed, Salt, Potassium Chloride, Dried Blueberries, Dried Papaya, Choline Chloride, L-Ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate (source of Vitamin C), Zinc Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, L-Carnitine, Vitamin E Supplement, Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Zinc Oxide, Copper Sulfate, Niacin, Vitamin A Supplement, Calcium Pantothenate, Manganous Oxide, Thiamine Mononitrate (source of Vitamin B1), Riboflavin Supplement (source of Vitamin B2), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (source of Vitamin B6), Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Vitamin K1 Supplement, Sodium Selenite, Folic Acid, Calcium Iodate, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Cobalt Carbonate, Yeast Culture (Saccharomyces Cerevisiae), Dried Enterococcus Faecium Fermentation Product, Dried Lactobacillus Acidophilus Fermentation Product, Dried Aspergillus Niger Fermentation Extract, Dried Trichoderma Longibrachiatum Fermentation Extract, Dried Bacillus Subtilis Fermentation Extract and Fermentation Solubles.
Each bag has a Best if Used by Date, and comes with an Unconditional Guarantee from the manufacturer.
Our final decision is to stick with this food. Our dogs love it & we love the results. Highly Recommended.

Blue Buffalo Adult Weight Control Chicken and Brown Rice Dry Dog Food Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Blue Buffalo is an above average quality dog food - and I can't recommend it highly enough. For the price, it is much less expensive - and as good a quality as such overly-priced "high quality" foods as Evo and Orijen. I regularly purchase pet products from amazon.com, and was researching prices here as compared to other online petfood sources.
That said, the pricing information that Amazon provides is misleading and FALSE.
Note that the product on this page is a 6 lb bag.
NEVER has a 6 lb bag been priced at $52.23!!!
The average price for a 6 lb bag of Blue Buffalo Weight Control is around $16.00.
If you purchase it from petfooddirect . com you'll pay $15.39.
A 30 lb bag isn't even $52!!
Very false and misleading on the part of amazon to make "unfamiliar" customers think they are saving $34.24 as shown on this page.

FirstMate Pet Foods Maintenance Dog Food, 33 Pound Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Since I have been buying Firstmate dog food for my dog, I've noticed a remarkable change in his coat, his health, and, the reader should know, in his well-formed stool. Another benefit of Firstmate is that the flavors are interchangeable, making eating kibble much more interesting for the dog. Try any flavor to begin -- I liked the idea of of my dog eating blueberries and chicken, so that's what I started him on -- and I think you'll agree with my review.

Merrick Grammys Pot Pie Dog Food 15lb Bag Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)After feeding my dog beneful and iams for years, he started getting numerous ear infections and he was ALWAYS itching and biting at his skin, I never thought it was because of his food but I looked it up and saw that beneful was awful for him(even though they make it seem so healthy!) beneful, science diet, purina, iams, and lots of other brands are awful for your dog! I picked Merrick because my dogs are SO picky and they absolutely LOVE this! Its like crack to them, they freak out! Its like they think its human food(which is great!). I think the price is fair too, 5.99 for shipping and less than $30 for a 15lb of dog food, thats a great deal! I seriously believe that this product, along with k-9 ear solutions and osteo glucosamine supplements(my dog has bad arthritis)saved my dogs life!

Nature's Variety Dry Dog Food, Prairie Canine Beef Meal & Barley, 5-Pound Bag Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I had not heard of this brand previously, but all the research I have done shows it to be a highly rated premium brand due to the quality of its natural ingredients. My older dog, who is starting to get finicky, took to it right away. With subscribe and save, the price is reasonable for the quality. I will likely continue to buy this, or alternate with another premium brand depending on my dog's tastes.
