These are great. They're easily cut into smaller pieces--I cut each piece into 12 little treats. Each ends up being just 1 kcal per treat. I worry less about fattening up my pup during training.

Bil-Jac Premium Liver Treats for Dogs Review

Bil-Jac Premium Liver Treats for Dogs
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My dogs love these treats, and I do buy them occasionally because they are cheap and perched at the check-out counter of our local garden/feed store. But check out the ingredient list-- I don't think anyone can feel good about feeding their dog high-fructose corn syrup! Just not the healthiest option-- when so many of our dogs are overweight, it seems better to feed them a real liver treat, versus this product which is "made with liver".
My dogs absolutely love Pro-Treat Beef Liver, Freeze Dried 14 Ounce (the larger size packages are more economical). I just feel a lot better about feeding real freeze-dried liver that doesn't have all the extra junk in Bil-Jac liver treats.
Specifically, these treats have chicken "by-products"-- that means liquid slaughterhouse run-off and other non-human grade leftovers from the slaughterhouse. UGH! Bil-Jac also includes three preservatives, glycerin (?!), and the corn syrup.

Here's the ingredient list for Bil-Jac liver treats, so you can make your own decision:
Liver, Chicken By-Products, Chicken By-Product Meal, Corn, Chicken Fat, Glycerin, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Propylene Glycol, Wheat Flour, Phosphoric Acid, Salt, Sodium Propionate and Potassium Sorbate and BHA and Citric Acid (Preservatives), Iron Oxide.

Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Remover for Pets Review

Nature's Miracle Stain and Odor Remover for Pets
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It worked for 1 day and then the odor returned. I ended up using a home remedy that was not only effective but much, much cheaper. I found a site that offered to rememdies to remove cat urine odor in my rug. The first was to mix white vinegar and water, 50-50. The second was to mix peroxide, baking soda, and a few drips of dish washing detergant. I did both remedies, one after the other, and although to smell was a bit poignant and my son had to sleep with me for a night becuase of the smell and the chill in the room, it worked and the smell hasn't returned. This neutralizes the amonia in the urine crystals permanently.

Pro-Treat Beef Liver, Freeze Dried Dog Treats Review

Pro-Treat Beef Liver, Freeze Dried Dog Treats
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Freeze dried liver has a hypnotic effect on dogs. They LOVE it and will do just about anything for it, so it is a great treat to use for training. (Powdered freeze dried liver is even added to many dog medicines nowadays-- heartworm and arthritis tablets, etc.-- because it causes the dog to scarf the medicine down like a treat.)
Freeze dried liver has a dry, hard, yet powdery/easy to chew consistency. It comes chopped/cubed. It is extremely lightweight due to the fact there is so little moisture in the product (thus the low weights on product labels).
Even though your dog will love liver treats, you shouldn't overfeed it. The manufacturer recommends 1-2 cubes daily for small dogs, 2-3 cubes for medium dogs, and 3-4 cubes for large dogs.
The largest package sizes of liver treats tend to be far more economical. I recommend buying the larger tubs, as you will save lots of money, you'll have a handy treat supply around for a longer time, and your dog will never tire of this product.
There is really zero waste with this product. When you near the end of the tub you'll find some powdery bits of dried liver at the bottom. Your dogs will go CRAZY if you sprinkle this dust over their dog food-- it's a wonderful reward that is easy to use.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's the nutritional analysis:
-100% freeze dried liver
-NO additives or preservatives.
-Crude protein..... not less than 50%
-Crude fat..... not less than 5%
-Crude fiber..... not more than 3%
-Moisture..... not more than 6%
Good Pet Stuff Pavlov's Cat Scratch Feeder Interactive Treat and Food Dispenser Review
Good Pet Stuff Pavlov's Cat Scratch Feeder Interactive Treat and Food Dispenser
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)
This is a clever device. All studies show that cats train better through rewards and not punishments, which is why I bought this.
It really only took my cat a day to learn to use this scratching post. My problem is that he has learned to push the outer tube up so that it falls on the lever and drops food. He also has a tendency to bite it instead of scratch it to get food. I have yet to see him actually scratch it.
I think this product needs to be a bit taller for it to really be used as a scratching post, but it's a great idea, and if you really work with your cat you may be able to get him to use it as it ought to be. The fact that you can fill the bottom with litter or sand to keep it stable also really helps.
Cats can now treat themselves for good behavior with this unique scratching post. The interactive treat-and-food dispenser responds to the scratching motion of cats with the release of dry morsels of food. By rewarding cats with treats, the unit helps train pets to scratch the post instead of the furniture--a nice solution for both cat lovers and their cats. The unit's heavy plastic construction ensures long-lasting durability, and its paw-shaped base can be filled with sand or litter for added stability. Recommended by animal-behavior experts and veterinarians, the unit comes complete and ready to use, just add up to 4-1/2 cups of treats or dry food. The post features an attractive carpeted scratching surface and a neutral color that blends well with any home decor. The treat-and-food dispenser measures 13 by 13-1/2 by 20 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.
Natural Balance Beef and Rice Formula Dog Food Roll, 4-Pound Review
Natural Balance Beef and Rice Formula Dog Food Roll, 4-Pound
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)
These smell great--like smoked dried salame. Once my father accidently sliced up a few to prepare them for his lunch before he saw the words "Dog Food" on them. That would have been funny.
Actually I have tasted these myself (as I do with everything I feed my dogs) and they are indeed quite good. Not salty nor gritty. It's like compressed mixed dried sausages.
I grate these into a scoop of Natural Balance Ultra dry kibble and the dogs simply can't get enough. They go crazy for these as treats also. A healthy alternative to expensive high-carb junkfood treats that beggin strips, snausages, greenies, milk bones, puperoni, canine carryouts, etc...
You know the food is good when you can use it as treats...
LIVER BISCOTTI 3 - 8oz Bags: REGULAR BITES- Original Recipe Review
LIVER BISCOTTI 3 - 8oz Bags: REGULAR BITES- Original Recipe
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)
I have two dogs that will NOT eat just anything....I can not begin to tell you how many different treats they have turned their noses up at...and mind you I do not buy grocery store supplies....everything that goes into those dogs is "the best" from a nutritional standpoint. I wasted alot of money trying different products until I stumbled across this one. I happened on it by chance...I had ordered some collars online. When my order got delayed, the company sent me some free Liver Biscotti as a gesture. Best free thing I have ever recieved!
I have 2 American Pitbull Terriers, one that can be extremely stubborn at times....I use these treats specifically for training and nothing else, and believe me .... my dogs, even the stubborn one, will do anything for a BISCOTTI! It is by far their favorite treat in the world! Also the treats are the perfect size for training and very crunchy.
I also must add that they CAN smell them...if I try to "sneak" them in a pocket before we go out to work on commands, the dogs know exactly where they are, and get VERY HAPPY and VERY attentive to my every move. I recommend these to everyone I know that has dogs.
I taught my puppy how to sit using the puppy version of this product. Now she's 11 months old, so I'm switching to the adult version. Each treat is about twice the size of the puppy version and since my dog is only 5 lbs, I tear each treat into 4 pieces. She absolutely loves these and they are a healthy treat for her.
Premier Pet Treat Pouch Review
Premier Pet Treat Pouch
I am really focused on training my new dog and this treat bag makes it easy. I take it on all my dog walks and outings. I use the flap compartment in the front for bio-bags, the zippered pocket in the back for my driver's license, and the roomy treat compartment snaps open and shut with ease. There is a key ring on the side where I keep a clicker. The waist belt gives my hands freedom. This bag has been through a few rain storm hikes and the treats have stayed dry. The design works perfectly for my needs.
Planet Dog Snack Sack, Black Review
Planet Dog Snack Sack, Black
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)
This is a MUCH better solution for dog-training-treats than a typical fanny pack. It has a waterproof lining, which means I can take "high value" treats (like real bacon bits or chicken liver bits, etc) in summer because I can put ice cubes in it to keep the baggies of high-value treats safely cool. When done with training I simply turn it inside-out and rinse it and let it dry in my dish-rack overnight. But it's not for the too-terribly-generous of girth. I'm about a Misses size 8 and there isn't all that much belt-length left. I'd guess it would fit perhaps a size 16, no more. But, the belt is removable, so if you have a different belt or strap that's about 1.5" wide (or less) that fits you, you could simply slip this sack from its provided belt and slip it onto yours.
3-PACK Liver Biscotti (24 oz.) Review
3-PACK Liver Biscotti (24 oz.)
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)
I've used these tasty little hard baked natural and preservative-free liver treats for a number of rescued dogs, from my Rhodesian Ridgebacks to a current mixed breed Basenji and Terrier (a cute little BasTer?) and swear by them. They seem to be almost addictive to dogs, and are very useful for continuous or intermittent reinforcements for behavioral training and rewards. They are considerably smaller than a sugar cube, so will not add many calories at all; they are dry, so they require no refrigeration; they are very light and easily fit in a small baggie for carrying around. Highly recommended!
Very nice practical pouch. Only comment is that when you REALLY fill it up, it doesn't close quite well. So make sure you're getting the right size: if you think you'll fill more than half of it, either be aware you won't be able to close it, OR go for a larger size
