(More customer reviews)My dogs love these treats, and I do buy them occasionally because they are cheap and perched at the check-out counter of our local garden/feed store. But check out the ingredient list-- I don't think anyone can feel good about feeding their dog high-fructose corn syrup! Just not the healthiest option-- when so many of our dogs are overweight, it seems better to feed them a real liver treat, versus this product which is "made with liver".
My dogs absolutely love Pro-Treat Beef Liver, Freeze Dried 14 Ounce (the larger size packages are more economical). I just feel a lot better about feeding real freeze-dried liver that doesn't have all the extra junk in Bil-Jac liver treats.
Specifically, these treats have chicken "by-products"-- that means liquid slaughterhouse run-off and other non-human grade leftovers from the slaughterhouse. UGH! Bil-Jac also includes three preservatives, glycerin (?!), and the corn syrup.

Pro-Treat Beef Liver, Freeze Dried Dog Treats Review

(More customer reviews)Freeze dried liver has a hypnotic effect on dogs. They LOVE it and will do just about anything for it, so it is a great treat to use for training. (Powdered freeze dried liver is even added to many dog medicines nowadays-- heartworm and arthritis tablets, etc.-- because it causes the dog to scarf the medicine down like a treat.)
Freeze dried liver has a dry, hard, yet powdery/easy to chew consistency. It comes chopped/cubed. It is extremely lightweight due to the fact there is so little moisture in the product (thus the low weights on product labels).
Even though your dog will love liver treats, you shouldn't overfeed it. The manufacturer recommends 1-2 cubes daily for small dogs, 2-3 cubes for medium dogs, and 3-4 cubes for large dogs.
The largest package sizes of liver treats tend to be far more economical. I recommend buying the larger tubs, as you will save lots of money, you'll have a handy treat supply around for a longer time, and your dog will never tire of this product.
There is really zero waste with this product. When you near the end of the tub you'll find some powdery bits of dried liver at the bottom. Your dogs will go CRAZY if you sprinkle this dust over their dog food-- it's a wonderful reward that is easy to use.

(More customer reviews)I have two dogs that will NOT eat just anything....I can not begin to tell you how many different treats they have turned their noses up at...and mind you I do not buy grocery store supplies....everything that goes into those dogs is "the best" from a nutritional standpoint. I wasted alot of money trying different products until I stumbled across this one. I happened on it by chance...I had ordered some collars online. When my order got delayed, the company sent me some free Liver Biscotti as a gesture. Best free thing I have ever recieved!
I have 2 American Pitbull Terriers, one that can be extremely stubborn at times....I use these treats specifically for training and nothing else, and believe me .... my dogs, even the stubborn one, will do anything for a BISCOTTI! It is by far their favorite treat in the world! Also the treats are the perfect size for training and very crunchy.
I also must add that they CAN smell them...if I try to "sneak" them in a pocket before we go out to work on commands, the dogs know exactly where they are, and get VERY HAPPY and VERY attentive to my every move. I recommend these to everyone I know that has dogs.

(More customer reviews)I've used these tasty little hard baked natural and preservative-free liver treats for a number of rescued dogs, from my Rhodesian Ridgebacks to a current mixed breed Basenji and Terrier (a cute little BasTer?) and swear by them. They seem to be almost addictive to dogs, and are very useful for continuous or intermittent reinforcements for behavioral training and rewards. They are considerably smaller than a sugar cube, so will not add many calories at all; they are dry, so they require no refrigeration; they are very light and easily fit in a small baggie for carrying around. Highly recommended!
