(More customer reviews)We have a boxer puppy. Hes small now, but it won't take long for him to get bigger. We needed bowls big enough for him. Most places I looked only had bowls for small dogs, like for yorkies. These are nice, the rubber slip bottom prevents the bowls from sliding around the floor when our boy is chowin down, and they hold a good amount of food. They look pretty nice too.

Skid Stop Slow Feed Bowl - Medium (Color May Vary) Review

(More customer reviews)Pugs are notoriously fast eaters. My youngest pug has choked on his food twice because a) he eats so fast and b) he doesn't bother to chew. This bowl doesn't solve the chewing issue, but it has certainly slowed him down.
I only gave 4 stars because I think the bowl with the knobs would be better suited for pugs. It's a little too hard for him to get to his food due to the dividers. I think this bowl works better for dogs with actual snouts.
My pug would probably give it 1 star. He is not too happy with this bowl. Every time I set it down in front of him, he looks at me like, "Seriously? We're still doing this?" But at least there's no more worries about him choking! (Until he figures out how to turn it over)

We've been using this bowl for about a month and it has really helped. He went from eating his normal portion in 30 seconds to almost two minutes. It is more difficult for him to get his entire mouth inside the bowl and he has to use his tongue to get all of it, but that is what it was intended to do.

Brake-Fast Dog Food Bowls - Medium Blue Review

(More customer reviews)Ive been looking for this type of product for a while, and it actually amazes me that no one else has thought of it.. then I realize why
the problem with this, is that each dog is obviously different. The length of the nose and shape of mouth, makes a big difference.
I have 4 labs, 1 of them is a mastermind, and knows the tricks of the trade to get in there and eat fast, the other 2 still goes in circles trying to get it, the last just takes his dandy ol time anyways to begin with
It does work to some extent, but some dogs "learn". so I notice that my dogs at first ate slow, but now eat faster. Not as fast as they would in a normal bowl but still, theres only so much you can do I guess
Lastly, my biggest gripe is the material. Its like cheap plastic imo. My dogs bit their bowls, and the plastic gets damaged easily so my next question is, why didnt they make this with Metal ? or somethhing else more durable?

The only bad thing is I put them in the dishwasher for an extra cleaning and the little dog prints on the outside faded. :( Still enjoying them however!

(More customer reviews)I was a little skeptical, but I timed my two rottweilers when they ate with normal bowls (45 seconds!) and with the bowls it took them about 3 1/2 minutes. So, I suspect it would help with bloating problems, but the biggest reason for geting it was to reduce gas. I am SO HAPPY we got these bowls. Farting is WAY down (by as much as 75% in my rough estimation). I got the two big black bowls and my dogs are 145 and 125 lbs. My big boy eats slower since his snout is bigger, my "little" girl tends to get her nose in there and eats faster. The blue bowl may have been better for her. The design really does keep them from gulping their food. In addition, the bowls have no rubber feet to keep them from moving when the dogs eat. I actually let the bowls scoot around as it helps them to slow down even more. Since the bowls move around more the faster they try to eat, they have to actually eat slower to keep the bowls from moving around.

This has slowed him somewhat, but it's certainly not a relaxing dinner over a glass of wine. It's probably a 50% improvement - from a 30 second affair out to maybe 45 seconds.
We also tried one of the bowls with the built-in obstructions. He pushed it all over the room trying to get to his food. Then he picked it up and dumped it out.

Brake-Fast Dog Food Bowls - Small Red Review

(More customer reviews)I have a Beagle, a Cocker, and a Dacshund mix. The medium works for the first two and the small is perfect for the little guy.
Postive:
My dog would eat so fast that I was sure he never chewed. All three dogs eat at the same time and the Beagle would always finish first and then pressure the others for thier food. This caused the Cocker to eat a little faster too. I am glad I saw these on a TV show recently. They work!!
My Beagle has slowed down considerably. He HAS to slow down just to get to all the bits around the center prongs. I hope it keeps working. We have been using it for 2 weeks and I just ordered more for my niece to use with her 3 dogs.
Needs Improvement:
The bowls need to be weighted down. They are too light. With the dog having to move his nose around the prongs, it moves the bowl more than a standard bowl. Adding some weight would help.
My dad is working on a raised platform to use with the bowls. That will give the benefit of feeding the dogs at their best level AND holding the bowls in place on the stand.
I highly recommend these to anyone with dogs who eat so fast that they regurge thier food as soon as they are done.

Durapet Premium Stainless Steel Slow-Feed Bowl for Dogs and Cats Review

(More customer reviews)I just bought two of the 5 cup bowels from Dr.s Foster & Smith and they are great! They are of solid build, excellent rubber traction and dishwasher safe (although it's easier to quickly wash rather than take up valuable real estate in the dishwasher). We just picked up two 9 week old Newfoundlands (large breed) last week and can see how they have to navigate around the whole bunt cake style bowl, which should keep wolfing their food down to a minimum, as best as can be expected. This is quite important to us as one of our last beloved Newfies died from bloating a year and a half ago (the other who had been his shadow was never the same afterwards and died of kidney and other complications several months later). We had looked at some of the other bowls that had the large nubs protruding up from the bottom, and while the design looked good for dogs with slim snouts, I feel a big faced Newfie would have a frustrating time of it getting in there. I highly recommend this product, even just as a good solid feeding bowl! Jody Koval
