6-PACK Pill Pockets for Cats SALMON 9.6 oz (270 pockets) Review

I love pill pockets. They are a much more pleasant way (both for me and my cat) to give my cat her pills.
I have two qualifications, though. First, I would recommend using the chicken flavor over the salmon. Recent lots of salmon pill pockets have contained fairly large pieces of bone, which might have caused problems if I hadn't caught them and my cat had swallowed them. I contacted the company, and they were very nice and refunded my money, but they did say it was due to the salmon meal and didn't seem to be very worried about it. So, I stick to the chicken now.
Secondly, I think the pockets as made are too large. If I put a big pill in the full pill pocket, my cat just eats around the pill pretty easily. So I usually break the pill and the pocket into smaller pieces, so my cat just pretty much swallows them whole. Not a big deal, and a solution if your cat figures them out as quickly as mine did.

Greenies Pill Pockets, Beef, 7.9 oz, for Capsules Review

Rarely have I encountered a product that doesn't have at least ONE person who either thinks it's junk, or gives a (bogus) low review because the delivery guy accidentally dropped the package before leaving the item at the door.
As of this moment, 100% of the people reviewing the Greenies PILL POCKETS have given them a five-star rating, and I'm enthusiastically joining the crowd!
If you're a dog owner, you've almost certainly had to, at some point, give your dog a pill that he or she was reluctant to take. The usual remedy until now, (as suggested by our vet) was to simply shove the thing down the poor dog's throat, and then rub their neck to help the pill go down.
Recently, one of our dogs --a large yellow lab named Chip-- was suffering from untreatable throat cancer, but he still needed to take a number of pills to make his final days a little more comfortable. The vet specifically mentioned AVOIDING the "shove and rub" technique as it would be very painful for the dog --who at that point was even reluctant to eat his regular food.
Someone mentioned PILL POCKETS. We picked up a bag and lo and behold, they worked like a champ. Though Chip was still not really interested in eating a meal, the *very* meaty smell of the PILL POCKETS was irresistible to him, and he happily gobbled up his meds.
Sadly, we lost Chip about a week later, but then our other dog developed a minor skin rash that required he take some antibiotics. Eubie is a Border Collie, and they tend to figure things out before you do --and we were astounded when he wolfed down his medicine and then looked at us as if to ask "is that all --when do I get another?!"
My technique for using the PILL POCKETS is to stuff the pill(s) inside, pinch off the open end --and then, using my palms, "roll" the pocket into a smooth, round ball. With Eubie at least, he loves the smell so much, that he simply swallows it whole.
In fact, I discovered another great use for the PILL POCKETS and that is to take a rawhide bone and smear the nooks and crannies with a single pill pocket. Since they're kind of "doughy" in texture, they're perfect in this regard --and for a dog that will happily walk around the house with the rawhide bone for days without ever chewing on it, we've found that the "pill pocket infused" rawhide is something that he HAS to chew on. (In fact, he was SO focused on this task, that for the first time ever, he actually ignored the fireworks on July 4th.... it was truly amazing!)

We call this kitty crack because we can literally get our cats to do anything for it. If they won't come in at night, we shake the bottle and they come running. They jump up on the chair and sit up for a small piece. It is nice to have some kind of control over this uncontrollable species!

Wonderful invention especially when you have a smart dog. Owen knows when we put pills in cheese, lunch meat etc so would eat around the pill and spit the pill out. With the pill pockets he eats the whole thing and hopefully is none the wiser.

For those picky dogs that don't want to take pills, this is the solution. I tried to hide my dog's pills peanut butter, cheese, and cold cuts, none of which worked. I purchased both the roasted duck, which is for allergies, and chicken flavored pockets and tried out both of the sizes (pockets for tablets and capsules) as well. My dog much preferred the chicken flavor. I preferred the pill pockets in the capsule size. This is because these pockets are larger. Even though the tablet sized pockets are large enough for any tablet, the capsule size allow me to get twice as many pill pockets for my money. I split them in two and can still fit a tablet inside each half*... just a TIP for those wanting to save a bit of $

We have four cats, all of whom have very, very different tastes -- one eats anything, one eats only one type of dry food EVER, and the other two are somewhere in between. So I was thrilled that all four of them love these treats. Everyone comes running now when I shake the bag.
The pockets a half-marble size cylinder of playdoh-like treat, that you can mash over and around small pills. We have three cats who receive pills at least once a day, and this had made the process completely painless for everyone. Our petsitter wrote us a note to thank us, in fact, and has recommended these to all her other clients.
One note on the size -- our cats are "chewers" or "swallowers." The swallowers don't seem to chew these treats at all, just gulp them down no problem. The chewers actually chew these treats, and spit out the pills. We get around this by tearing each treat into two pieces, and tossing the empty piece first. The second piece, with the pill, seems to go down faster, without a spit-out pill.
A second note is that these are much too small for capsule-type pills, especially for chewers. If your cat is on larger capsules (like some antibiotics are), you may need to find another solution, like emptying the capsule into a treat, or just using these as a reward after giving the capsule "the old way."

I have a 17 year old Yorkie that has Cushungs Disease. Pill pockets are the only easy and convenient way to administer his pills to him twice a day.
They come in various sizes and two flavors, beef and chicken.
I use the large to accomodate all the pills he has to take.
Buying through Amazon gets me fast service at a reasonable price.

Feline Greenies 3 oz. Package Tuna Review

Feline Greenies 3 oz. Package Tuna
Average Reviews:

Neither of my two cats would eat these treats. In fact, neither of my dogs would eat them either-- and they're willing to eat the occasional "cat cookie"! I looked on the package and it looks like the main ingredient is corn meal. These treats look and smell like cheap dog food, not fish. The scent is not at all appealing. So basically I paid for an overpriced 3 oz. bag of corn meal based pet food and now I'm stuck with a bag because none of my four pets will eat it.

Greenies Pill Pockets, Beef, 3.2 oz, for Tablets Review

I have a 100lb dog, an Akita who HATES taking pills. She has NOT had Pill Pockets for Dogs, but she HAS had Pill Pockets for CATS. Now, before you click the "No" button after "Was this review helpful to you?", read further -- my comments will be of value to those with dogs that take SMALL pills!
Andie has been taking pills for hypothyroidism for the past 9 years. Her pills are TINY. Wrapping them in meat or cheese never worked; she simply ate around the pill or spit it out. For years the only way I could get Andie to take pills was to, literally, shove them down her throat. (My hands are small enough and her mouth is big enough for me to do this. Thankfully she's a very trusting dog!)
Then one day I was at the vet and noticed packages of something called "Pill Pockets". They had two kinds -- one for dogs and one for cats. Both came in flavors that Andie would like, but the dog Pill Pockets came in different sizes (small and large) while the cat Pill Pockets only came in one size (small).
I looked at each package very carefully and noticed that the packages for cats had 45 Pill Pockets, while the packages for small dogs only had 35 Pill Pockets. And yet, the packages for small dogs cost MORE than the packages for cats -- huh? (On Amazon.com they are the same price, but the quantities are different.) So I looked at Andie's tiny thyroid pills, then looked at the Pill Pocket pictures on the packages and decided, "I might as well save myself a buck and buy the kitty Pill Pockets. What the hey, Andie won't know she's eating something intended for cats!"
I've been happy with that decision ever since.
I've bought both the salmon- and chicken-flavored Pill Pockets FOR CATS and Andie likes them both. The pockets are the perfect size, just big enough for her thyroid pills, and to date she has gulped down every one, then begged for another! And I like the fact that I get 10 more in each package than I would if I bought the Pill Pockets "for dogs".
Pill Pockets are GREAT product, for cats OR dogs. I wish I had discovered them sooner! While I have never used the Pill Pockets for Dogs, I am 100% confident that they are excellent. That's why I'm giving this product 5 stars. If Andie's pills were bigger I would get the Pill Pockets for Dogs, and I know she would like them just as much. For the time being, though, I will stick with the smaller Pill Pockets for Cats, since they last a few days longer.
So, this review is to pass along an idea that perhaps some dog owners had not considered: If your dog takes tiny pills like Andie does, go with the more economical choice and get Pill Pockets for Cats. Your dog will never know the difference!

6-PACK Beef Pill Pockets SMALL 19.2 oz (180 pockets) Review

6-PACK Beef Pill Pockets SMALL 19.2 oz (180 pockets)
Average Reviews:

My veterinarian recommended these because I was having a hard time getting my 17-year old beagle to take her pain medication. I had tried all the usual ways (sticking the pill into cheese or dog treats, putting it on the back of her tongue and holding her mouth shut, etc.), so I was willing to try anything.
There's nothing unusual about these treats that makes a dog eat them any differently than anything else. So, I stick the pill in, my dog starts chewing the pill pocket, and soon she's foaming at the mouth because she bit into the pill.
If your dog wolfs down food without chewing, this product will work, but is probably unnecessary. If your dog chews food, it just won't work.

Greenies Pill Pockets for Cats, Chicken, 1.6 ounce Review

Greenies Pill Pockets for Cats, Chicken, 1.6 ounce

I have three older cats who take arthritis pills. One also takes a thyroid pill. I decided to try the pill pockets. For the first month or so, they all loved them, and they made it easy to give the pills. However, after three months:
One cat still loves them. I have to watch her carefully or she will steal the pills from the others.
One cat has figured out how to eat around the pill.
One cat sometimes takes them, but at other times just sniffs the pocket and skips it.
I have figured out a few tricks that help:
There are two types of pockets for cats: chicken and salmon. The chicken is slightly larger and more pliable and works better with larger pills. However, I think that the cats find the salmon tastier.
Get another cat treat and stick it to the side of the pill pocket. Then place the pocket so the treat faces down. My finicky cat is much more likely to eat the whole thing that way.
The pill pocket still helps with the cat who eats around it. After she eats the pill pocket, it is easier to shove the pill down her throat. She is more likely to swallow it instead of spitting it out if it tastes of pill pocket.
If you have two pills, try to fit them both in one pocket. Giving the cat fewer pockets will make it seem more of a treat.

These Pill Pockets are a total god-send. I have two cats, one of which has to be 'pilled' twice daily. This has meant a horrible process starting with her being wrapped up in a blanket. Now, thank heavens, we no longer have to go through that procedure. I simply pop her tablet into a Pill Pocket and she eats it up. My other cat is beyond fussy: she won't even touch fresh chicken, salmon, cream ... none of the normal cat 'treats' we humans offer. However, she actually BEGS for the Pill Pockets, which I now give her minus any medication as a treat. I recommend that anyone with a cat or dog keeps a packet of these handy. And if your pet is super fussy, they just might like these as treats. In fact, I'm so happy with them, I have already placed another, larger order. The only 'complaint' I have is that they only come in two flavors.

Greenies Pill Pockets for Cats, Salmon, 1.6 ounce Review

Greenies Pill Pockets for Cats, Salmon, 1.6 ounce

I have two cats, one is mine and the other is my girlfriends. My cat, although he isn't thrilled with getting the occasional "tummy pill," does do pretty well with them and doesn't usually throw too bad of a fit. My girlfriend's cat on the other hand, is quite the opposite. That little bugger will throw one of the biggest fits you ever seen when you attempt to give him a pill. You would think that we are trying to give him a bath he throws such a fit, which is another story all together!
Anyhow, we bought some of these "pill hiding treats" in an attempt to get him to take his medicine without the daily fight that is usually attached to the act of pill taking. The very first time we tried them we were both a bit apprehensive wondering if we had just wasted some money on treats instead of the normal band-aids which come in quite handy at pill time. Needless to say, these "pill pockets" worked!
We were literally amazed the first time that we gave him one with a pill in it and he actually gulped it down without even tasting it. Oh, what joy swept through our household. Little did we know that it was only going to last about 2 weeks. Just enough time for use to become complacent as far as the daily pill act was concerned.
Sure enough, we were once again outsmarted by the cat. Approximately two weeks into the "pill hiding treat" debacle, we started finding his pill on the floor but no sign of the pill pocket. We soon discovered that the little bugger was chewing the pill pocket off from around the pill and eating it without eating the pill.
Now we give him several "pill hiding treats" throughout the day, and only one of them has the pill in it, but he never knows which one it is. Although we never put it in the very first one, or the very last one. This has been working now for about a month, but I figure were running out of time on this one and had better start thinking up a new plan of attack before we are once again outsmarted by the cat.
