The lid is truly odorproof and almost completely bug proof. After over a year outside in 0 degree winters and 100 degree summers, the handle finally broke so this time I'm buying two.

Bergan Stack-n-Stor 100 Food Storage and Dispenser (Colors Vary) Review

(More customer reviews)Looking for a way to save space in my feed room these seemed like the perfect solution. I had some reservations but after reading other reviews I purchased two storage units. I use them for 50 pound bags of horse feed and I defy someone to get 100 pounds in one. It is difficult to empty the feed bag into the front of the storage unit as you have to keep pushing the feed toward the back to make room for the rest of the bag. I don't find them particularly rugged either as the bottom one has collapsed a little on one corner after only a couple of months use. I appreciate their space saving feature but probably would not purchase another.

1- the scoop is too small (love that it stores in the lid)
2- not quite the quality I expect from Rubbermaid
3- it does not hold a whole 30 lb. bag of dog food.
But it works.
You can't have everything you want. or at least I can't.

(More customer reviews)First let me say that this is a great product as far as design and for storing dog food. I have 3 dogs all different breeds, ages, and sizes. I ahev been storing their food in these containers for about 6 months. I noticed that one of my dogs had a white spot on his nose. I was not concerned at first. I figured it would go away in time. It did not. It got worse. (Sometimes they can scratch their nose and an area will turn white and go away in time) It got worse. Then the new puppy that we have had for about a month got a spot too! It started out just like the other ones. Just a faint little white spot. (THEY BOTH HAVE SOLID BLACK NOSES) Long story short, After going to the vet and ruling out everything else, the spots only occured after I was storing their food in these bins. They
have something to do with the chemicals in the plastic. My third dog did not have any discoloration in his nose. My vet said that some dogs are more sinsitive than others. SO...... The vet said that the discoloration does not have any long term health problems, but is definatly not omething to ignore. I am still going to use this product but I will place the actual paper bag inside instead of dumping out the food into the container. I can not say 100% that the reason is this but I can with 99.9%. Search google if you are curious about what I say. I will update if it goes away after I place actual dog food bag in container.

Gamma Vittles Vault Airtight SoftStore Pet Food Storage Container Review

I didn't look for ANY OTHER type of storage system. It was another soft vittles vault or nothing. I've tried about everything until I stumbled on one of these about 5 years ago. I'll never use anything else.
We live in the woods and mice in the garage are a problem. They don't get in here. The food stays fresh, it collapses as you use it up and the lid just spins on and off with the flip of the wrist.
Best of all, grab the strap throw it in the back of the truck and we are off on a hunting trip.
This is one of the few products you'll run across that once you use it, you won't want anything else.
I know its just a dog food container, but that's exactly my point...food storage and feeding the dog shouldn't be a pain...and its not with one of these.

(More customer reviews)I bought the 30lb version at a local PetSmart but returned it b/c although it was the right size, I returned it and ordered the larger 40lb version so I could buy larger bags of food for my puppy which per pound cost less. Anyhow, this container is great. It is space saving and not clunky and it really does seal the air out of the food. The description on Amazon doesn't say whether the top is black or granite but I received the granite one. Some containers are twice the price but don't do half the job. I'd recommend buying it from Amazon/Petfooddirect since it was the cheapest I could find anywhere (it's also hard to find in retail stores). Buying from Amazon will be a few dollars cheaper in shipping than directly from Petfooddirect. Pretty much, it's a garbage can with a nice lid for $26.51. Not bad but when you consider it's just plastic, it's kind of pricey but there are worse alternatives out there.

(More customer reviews)Purchased two which are the perfect size for pet food (either in the bag or loose). Getting the rollers in was a little big of a struggle for this person with arthritic thumbs, but the end result is very good. Top snaps on easily and the lock is very secure but easy to open and close. The top of the bin is wide and easy to get things in and out. Bin is well constructed, heavy duty. This morning I simply rolled one of the bins from the hall through the kitchen, right up to the food dish ... no more carring bags around or trying to pour food into the dish in the hall.
So please will most likely buy another (smaller) one for bird seed.

(More customer reviews)This is on the small side for large breed dogs. A 16 lb. bag is about the max. I can't lift the bigger bags anyway, so that is fine w/me.
This is great for travel. We accidentally left it outside our camper van one night while camping along the Washington coast. I woke up in the morning and couldn't find the dog food. On a walk around the campground later that day, I found the bin in the woods. It had been dragged off by, probably by a family of racoons. They scratched and clawed, but couldn't get at the food.

(More customer reviews)This treat jar is about 5" high and the perfect size for my cat's treats. I had little treat bags and bottles lines up and pouring them in this jar took away the clutter! I'm not very visual so I wasn't sure how large this was going to be, I was worried it would be too big. It's fantastic! It held four pouches of treats and a jar of 'Pounce' with a bit of room left over. I wouldn't use it for a dog unless it was for the purposes of packing a light meal or snacks for traveling. Four stars instead of five because the lid is extremely tight...good to keep treats fresh, not so good when you're trying to open it =0) For the price the product can't be beat!

Perfect size for 15 to 20 lb. bags of dog food, easy storage size to fit in an undercounter or closet area, and the "easy spin lid" makes for trouble free access to the food. The seal on the lid is excellent, no odor escape, and probably nothing can get in to the food either. So glad I bought it, and at the time it was on sale as well.

(More customer reviews)I bought this 7 months ago, and it was great. 2 days ago I got a disappointing lesson that you cannot let a 40 lb bag drop into the container. You have to completely lower it in, or the bottom of the container will break off, unable to take a direct drop.
It had performed so well otherwise, that it hadn't crossed my mind that could occur. I had been working very long hours and was too exhausted to use my physical strength to gently lower in the new bag and I just let it drop and was surprised to hear a big crack as the bottom broke.
Next time I am that tired, I will wait until I am rested enough to gently lower the bag, because after all it is only plastic. For the price, it can't be beat.
I went ahead and ordered a replacement because it works great otherwise, keeping the food fresh and making it very easy to cart around a 40lb bag. It has held up great all that time until I thoughtlessly just dropped a 40lb bag into it. I wish it came with a hardier bottom, but then again, it wouldn't cost as cheaply if it did. So be warned: the bottom breaks off if you let a heavy bag of kibble fall into it, and so you must take care lowering the bag in.

(More customer reviews)These work perfectly. I had ants in my horse feed and these containers have prevented them. The larger container takes a full bag of Senior feed!
I spray painted them as they will be stored outside so I don't want the light getting in.
They do the job 100%.
One of the lids had a faulty gasket and so was not airtight. I contacted the seller and they had a new lid dropshipped from the manufacturer VERY quickly. I was very pleased with the service.

I bought a new one, and it is the best feeder around if you vacation for an extended period of time. The top portion holds two weeks of food, and sits on top of the water well. The water well holds 5 gallons of water and stays cool, since the top portion insulates it and there is continuous water flowing in due to the hose attachment. The renter of my old house recently left, and I found my old feeder. It is none the worse for wear after all of these years, and now I have two.

(More customer reviews)I have been horrified to find the container where I keep my kitty's food a black swarming mass of ants. I like to buy pet food in bulk, as it's cheaper. But it takes a big container to hold it all. And most big containers aren't air tight. The Vittle Vault is like a dream, and a major play in my battle against the ants. The lid fits very snug with a rubber lining on the inside to keep the nasty pests out. And the screw on top, for easy daily access, also has a snug rubber lined fit. This is the best solution I've found for these problems, and I would recommend it to anyone else in a heartbeat!
