I purchased two of these from Amazon. This is the thinnest metal I have ever seen used in a pet bowl. It could bend out of shape if it were kicked or a large dog got a hold of it, but would hold up to day-to-day household use. The bottom on the bowls we received were black, not beige as in the photo. The black bottom may be a plus for not showing smudges, but I would have liked the lighter color. They also had a very strong smoke odor when we received them so we made sure to wash them thoroughly just in case they had residue from a factory fire. These bowls are excellent if you add Willard Water to your pet's bowl because Water XXX (Dark) - 16 oz. - Liquid cannot be used with glass, ceramic, and certain plastics. If you are comparing these PETCO bowls to Durapet bowls, read on.
These PETCO bowls do not appear to have any rust, unlike the Durapet "stainless" bowls which arrived with rust spots. We have several Durapet bowls and appreciate the sturdiness of the bowls, but the fact that they rust leaves us to wonder what contaminants may lurk in the "stainless steel". Another thing that is quite annoying is that the Durapet bowls are often listed without dimensions so you don't really know what you are ordering until it arrives. We were disappointed that the large dishes were very shallow and wide making it impossible to fit them where we had our other bowls of the same volume. If you need them to fit in a particular area, request the dimensions prior to ordering.
