The Whole Dog Journal did an article about how many other rawhide dog chews are treated with an amazing list of chemicals when they are shipped to China or Mexico for processing. Some get so rotten looking they are bleached or dyed or sometimes painted with a whitening agent to cover this up.
The Wholesome Hides are from US cattle and do not leave the country. They are rolled from a single piece of hide that also maintains its collagen. Cheaper rawhide chews can be made of multiple small pieces that are loosened as the dog chews and can become a choking hazard or are made from split hides creating such thin brittle pieces they can tear the gut.
It's good to find something to make my dog happy that I can also feel good about.
It would be nice if they were within the Prime program for shipping and if the middle size was offered here.
