After a few months, we have not mastered the feeding mechanism, but I did put a piece of rubberized shelving material under the feeder so at least the food doesn't bouce all over the floor. We have this on a shelf, so we can easily fill the pet's bowl. But it's far far better than the alternatives, and it's easy to fill.
