(More customer reviews)I have a very similar and smaller version of this container that I use for sugar in the kitchen and like it so well, I thought this would be great for puppy food. I'm not all that enthusiastic though because it's a bit awkward to use in this large size. I need two hands to hold it while I'm pouring (shaking) out the food. I've found I'd prefer a container that opens entirely so I can scoop the food out. On the other hand, for birdseed that would flow freely and go right where you want it, i.e. into a narrow tube feeder with no spillage, I think this would be great. When my puppy gets larger and is not being fed in the kitchen (where a bigger container would be in my way), I'll re-deploy this to my bird feeding station and get a larger container for pet food.
Usually I buy large bags of pet food, but for this little puppy, the small bag is fine and the contents fit in this container nicely (I don't put the bag in, just the kibble). Once the lid is attached and seated well, I've had no problem with it coming loose when dispensing the contents through the spout, which you pull up when you need it, then can be folded back in. Since I'm still adding milk to the puppy's food at this point and working on the countertop, I've found the container too big and awkward for my needs, however I can see its value for either birdseed or small size cat or dog kibble when it is being poured directly into a bowl on the floor.
