The guillotine design appears to be more pain free. I've used them once with good results. However, the included file is useless. Get yourself a good emery board.

technology of today, it is easier for a pet owner to care for
their pets nails without clipping them. However, if you do still
clip their nails, Kwik Stop is a sure way to stop bleeding if you
accidentally clip too far into the quik. I highly recommend it!
