(More customer reviews)I have had two of these now for a year. I purchased them despite the flurry of postings saying the pumps failed. I disected the pump on the #2 unit when it quit and have a solution for this issue. The pump is a Permanent magnet rotor with AC stator, so the only two things that can kill the pump is a broken winding (very unlikely as the assembly is potted) and the rotor/impellor binding up. The failures are likely due to salt build up as was the case with mine. Carefully prying the rotor\impellor out after unsnapping the covers they were soaked in distilled (aka "White") vinegar, a grocery store item. Soaked for 2 hours and then resaaembled after rinsing. Works fine! Now with the #1 unit I tried a different approach. I got a 6" deep container and stuck the pump in the bottom and filled the container 4" deep with the vinegar and plugged it in. Let it run for an hour. Pump came out sparkling clean! If the pump is siezed, one will have to pull the impellor assembly out and do the soak routine.
